Hunt Valley, MD - AAI Test & Training, an operating unit of Textron Systems, a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company, announced today a $1.6 million award from the U.S. Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division at Lakehurst, N.J., to provide ABE systems for the Royal Australian Navy's MH-60R Seahawk helicopters. Deliveries are expected to take place throughout 2014.
ABE is a gyro-stabilized, electro-optical angular measurement system designed to align systems on any land, sea or air vehicle prior to mission execution. Platform-specific personality modules are utilized to address the requirements of each new application quickly and precisely. The ABE system is utilized by the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps, as well as allied military and aircraft manufacturers.
"Our ABE systems have been utilized for more than 20 aircraft platforms because of their precision measurement accuracy and repeatability," says AAI Test & Training Senior Vice President and General Manager Steve Mensh. "In addition, we've made the system user friendly to minimize training requirements and greatly reduce boresight time. The ABE system will provide the Royal Australian Navy the same trusted boresight solution as currently used by the U.S. Navy."
