SINGAPORE — The Singapore Air Force will receive the final 12 M-346 new generation advanced trainers from ST Aerospace and Alenia Aermacchi in March. The Feb. 12 announcement was made at the Singapore Airshow, being held from Feb. 11-16.
Singapore signed the contract in late 2010 and has received 10 aircraft along with delivery of ground-based training systems and the associated initial logistics support package.
The Singapore Air Force began pilot training in February 2013 at the Advanced Training School at Cazaux Air Base, France, with the first training flight in March.
“This event marked the beginning of the full spectrum 3rd generation integrated pilot training systems for the [Republic of Singapore Air Force] and it was also an important milestone for the M-346 program,” stated an ST Engineering news release. “The close collaboration between ST Aerospace (“prime contractor”) and its partners, Alenia Aermacchi and The Boeing Company, has allowed for the achievement of these important milestones.”
