MANILA (PNA) -- As more modern naval platforms are procured and commissioned, Department of National Defense (DND) Secretary Delfin Lorenzana said plans are afoot to decommission World War II vintage ships still in service in the Philippine Navy.
He made this statement during Friday's welcoming ceremonies for BRP Andres Bonifacio (FF-17), the country's third Hamilton-class cutter.

Deactivation of these senior vessels will allow the Navy sufficient personnel to man ships coming from the pipeline and thus ensure a more capable and credible naval force.
World War II ships in PN service include the BRP Rajah Humabon, BRP Rizal, BRP Malvar, BRP Quezon and the BRP Laguna among others.

Lol their finnaly gonna retire this floating target ship.
BalasHapusis there something funny about it? you act like retarded dick head kid
Hapushahaha you mad bruh????? hahaha
HapusThe Philippine should decommissions all of its WW2 era warships decades ago. Their should planning to modernize the whole armed force before kicking the American out of Philippines. Now the Chinese CG and fisherman can plunder the resources within Philippine EEZ in South China Sea and the Pinoy can only whining and blamming the Chinese eventhough the Philippine itself fail to do its duty to protect its sovereignty and dignity.
BalasHapusAt least their vessels did not sunk like TNI-AL of former East Germany vessels, before even reach Indonesia base!
BalasHapus1. It's "did not sink" not "did not sunk".
Hapus2. It was caused by accidentally hitting an underwater object which wrecked the ships hull and not poor maintenance. Accidents happen. Even the US navy has accidents like this form time to time.
3. Don't talk shit about Indonesia when your sub could not even dive.
the sub can dive and the tni al ship sunk due to accident. this are the fact. lets end this stupid argument here.

HapusThat particular ship sank, but is currently afloat and still commissioned in the TNI AL. Didn't even need special recovery vessels to get it back. It's been in service for almost 20 years here.
Hapusyah beda dong om ipul domi, kapal jerman timur yg itu kan jenis LST, pintu depan pula. kena hajar ombak 10 meter kata pak habibie, diterjang seastate 8 gini wajar ada kerusakan ramp doornya, tapi gak tenggelam kok, cmn masuk air haha.
Hapusseperti rekan diatas kapalnya masih aktip skrg.
Bukan LST.
