ZHUKOVSKIY (Russia) (Sputnik) – The International Aviation and Space Salon MAKS is held in the town of Zhukovskiy in the Moscow Region from July 18-23.
"We plan to finalize such a serious process as modernization of Royal Malaysian Air Force’s MiG-29 jets. Today, [Malaysia's] Air Force Commander is here. We hope that everything will be successful," Shugaev said.
A total of 18 Russia-made MiG-29N fighter jets became part of Royal Malaysian Air Force’s (RMAF) fleet under a 1993 deal. On March 21, a representative of Russia's United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) told Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak that Russia was ready to modernize Malaysia's MiG-29N fighter jets to MiG-29SM, and provide full repairs to this end.

maaf hanya mmberi pandangan.
This would confirm that the mrca programme will be delayed till further notice in order to extend the migs lifespan
BalasHapusMrca will delayed is already confirmed by Malaysian Mindef. However it's bit unreliable to believe RMAF will upgraded and thus reinstated back their MIG 29 to active squadron based on source like Sputnik.
HapusGot from other source that shown some thinking in RMAF to just concentrate their fighting force with Flanker, Hornet and Fulcrum. It's better saving the budget for MRCA so can be back on track few years ahead, then adding cost with Fulcrum.
Again how many times Sputnik claim something, and turn out only 20% reliable at best..
RMAF has configuration of Mig-29 and Su-30, like RSAF F-16 and F-15, right?
BalasHapusIs it likely the same strategy?
Cant really look at it this way. Its more on the roles and mission types of the aircraft. Modern day platforms of course can play many roles. Compared to ww2 and cold war where each aircraft is very specific for their roles and cant perform other roles.

HapusPilihan yang baik sih
BalasHapusWe are known to make very strange and sometimes dubious decision. We have the dough but we'd rather spend it on more beneficial projects like MRT/ECRL/HSR that will spur growth and benefits citizens/non citizens. At the moment with FDPA treaty and bilateral defence treaty with friendly countries we don't need MRCA. More pressing is the need of ISR/MPA/UAV to better police our porous border and the stem the rise of non-conventional non state threats like the the Islamic states and other militant groups. Once that is taken care of and when our economies gets better we will embark on new procurements.
BalasHapuscakap banyak....songlap is songlap laaaaa
