Vietnam Prepares to Launch a Large Submarine Rescue Ship

New photos posted on the Z189 Shipyard show that the first large submarine rescue ship built by Vietnam is almost complete.

189 Single Member Limited Liability Company (Z189 Factory) is a unit under the General Department of Defense Industry, together with Song Thu Corporation, this is one of the major facilities that cooperates with the Dutch Damen Group.

Z189 factory has built many new large and modern ships under contracts with foreign countries. Typically, this is the MV Sycamore multifunction training ship of 2,400 tons of water, or the twin ship rescue ship Besant 2,100 tons and Stoker 2,600 tons under contract with the Royal Australian Navy.

The successful building and timely delivery of high-quality specialized ships to foreign partners is the money for 189 Factory to develop similar models to meet the needs of the People's Navy of Vietnam.

At the 9th International Exhibition on shipbuilding technology, maritime and marine construction - Vietship 2018, a large submarine rescue model prepared by 189 One Member Company Limited to prepare for the Vietnamese Navy be formally introduced.

Looking at the exterior design of this specialized ship, it can be seen that it bears a lot of similarities with the RGS 9316 prototype (which is the Stoker submarine rescue ship that Z189 built for the Australian Navy) promoted is given to the front.

All remaining parameters as length of 93 m; width of 16 m; the height of 5.85 m is completely similar to the RGS 9316. Modifying the design of the RGS 9316 at the request of Vietnam is a big innovation, bearing the unique identity of our defense industry.

It has been nearly two years since the domestic model of a large submarine rescue ship was introduced at Vietship 2018, recently the actual image of the ship with the number 927 has appeared, showing it prepared to launch.

This is undoubtedly another great achievement of Vietnam's defense industry, meeting the need to ensure logistics as well as maintain combat capability for the Kilo 636 attack submarine fleet.

It is expected that in the future with the strong development of the Vietnam People's Navy, there will be at least one more similar submarine rescue ship built and aiming to continue exporting this product to foreign countries.
