DTI and the Royal Thai Army Signed an Agreement on RnD of the D-Eyes 04 Medium-Sized UAV

Signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding (MOA: Memorandum of Agreement) between the Defense Technology Institute, DTI and the Royal Thai Army on research and development of medium-sized unmanned aerial vehicle systems for the Army Aviation Center held on June 22, 2021.

It is the latest progress of the project since DTI and the Royal Thai Army signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on research and development of unmanned aerial vehicle systems and against unmanned aerial vehicle systems on December 7,  2020. The Counter-Unmanned Aerial System (C-UAS) was tested in May 2021.

The DTI D-eyes 04 medium unmanned aerial vehicle system to be developed is based on the CY-9 medium unmanned aerial vehicle of Beihang UAS Technology Co., Ltd. The aircraft system is a fixed-wing aircraft that uses a runway for take-off and landing.

Features wingspan 14m, gross weight installed payload 150kg, operating time. 12-20 hours, operating range of more than 200km, equipped with EO/IR (Electro-Optical/Infra-Red) cameras, working day-night with anti-vibration system by employing 3 officers.

It is understood that the D-eyes 04 UAS will be supplied for Artillery regiments search for targets by The Royal Thai Army Artillery Brigade replaced the old system, such as the Searcher II Israeli UAV, which in this latest signing Army Aviation Center was identified as a unit to be commissioned for trial use.

DTI Thailand previously delivered the D-eyes 02 Mini UAV to the Royal Thai Marine Corps (RTMC) for trial use on December 9, 2020.

The development of the DTI family of unmanned aerial vehicle systems D-eyes in various DTI models represents a success in supporting research and development in the domestic security industry where government agencies have been used to try and procure it into service.
