Hanwha will build 30 AS9 SPH and 15 AS10 Armored Ammunition Supply Vehicle for Royal Australian Army (photo: Hanwha Aerospace)
Hanwha Aerospace has begun assembling Australia's first 'Huntsman' howitzer at its Changwon plant. This howitzer is based on the Australian K9 Thunder and is one of the world's most advanced artillery systems with enhanced armor protection and firing capabilities.
Under the Land 8116 Phase 1 contract signed in 2021, Australia will deploy 30 AS9 'Huntsman' self-propelled armored vehicles and 15 AS10 armored ammunition resupply vehicles.
The initially produced vehicles will lay the foundation for further production at Hanwha's Armored Vehicle Center of Excellence in Geelong, Victoria, which will contribute to strengthening Australia's defense capabilities and growing the local economy and industry.

Indonesian Navy Builds First TAIS LPC Derivative
BalasHapusThe Indonesian Navy (TNI-AL) commenced the steel-cutting ceremony for its inaugural Kapal Cepat Rudal (KCR / Fast Missile Boat) of a new variant at the Palindo Marine shipyard in Batam on Monday (Mar. 25). Based on the design of Large Patrol Craft (LPC) from Turkiye’s TAIS Shipyards, this new KCR is expected to bolster the TNI-AL’s capabilities in anti-submarine warfare alongside its ageing Parchim-class corvettes.
Noteworthy modifications have been made to the original TAIS design. The Indonesian version excludes the twin-barrel 40 mm cannon at the aft, instead featuring a Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat (RHIB) station. Additionally, two 12.7 mm heavy machine gun stations have been added atop the ship’s rear superstructure. While the 2×2 launchers for the Atmaca anti-ship missiles remain unchanged, the installation of the anti-submarine rocket launcher has been relocated to the top of the ship’s bridge.
Official statements regarding the remaining specifications of the vessel have yet to be released. However, based on the original TAIS LPC specifications, the 65-meter vessel with a beam of 9.45 meters and a draft of 2.55 meters has a displacement of around 660 tonnes. Powered by two diesel engines, the ship can achieve a maximum speed of 27 knots. At its cruise speed of 19 knots, the new KCR will have a maximum range of 1,500 nautical miles or a 7-day endurance with its crew of 55.
TAIS Shipyards secured a contract for two 65 m LPCs for TNI-AL during the Indo-Defence Expo 2022. The recent steel-cutting ceremony marked the beginning of construction for these two vessels in Indonesia, following adjustments and reviews to tailor the design to the specific operational needs of the Indonesian Navy.

The Indonesian Navy (TNI-AL) officiated the steel-cutting of its second Bung Karno-class corvette in Batam on Thursday (Jan. 25). Built by PT Karimun Anugrah Sejati shipyard, this ship will likely serve in a slightly different role than the KRI Bung Karno which was launched in April 2023.

The ship is expected to be launched by the end of this year.
