TNI AL. Koarmada II -- Panglima Komando Armada II (Pangkoarmada II) Laksamana Muda (Laksda) TNI Ariantyo Condrowibowo , secara simbolis menyerahkan KRI Lumba-Lumba 881 kepada Komandan Pangkalan Utama TNI AL (Danlantamal) XIII Tarakan Laksamana Pertama TNI Ferry Supriady, untuk memperkuat Satuan Kapal Patrol (Satrol) Lantamal XIII Tarakan. Penyerahan ini berlangsung di Dermaga TNI AL Mamburungan, Lantamal XIII Tarakan, Senin (10/02).
KRI Lumba-Lumba 881 sebelumnya telah diresmikan langsung oleh Kepala Staf Angkatan Laut (Kasal) Laksamana TNI Dr. Muhammad Ali. Pada kesempatan tersebut, Kasal juga mengukuhkan Letkol Laut (P) Guntur Prastyawan sebagai Komandan KRI Lumba-Lumba 881 dalam upacara yang digelar di Dermaga KBT Sunda Kelapa, Jakarta, pada Selasa (17/12/2024) silam. Kehadiran kapal ini diharapkan dapat meningkatkan efektivitas operasi patroli laut di perbatasan Indonesia.
Penyerahan KRI Lumba-lumba ditandai dengan penandatanganan berita acara serah terima yang dilakukan Panglima Koarmada II, Laksamana Muda TNI Ariantyo Condrowibowo dan Komandan Lantamal XIII, Laksamana Pertama TNI Ferry Supriady. Dilanjutkan pernyataan resmi dan penekanan sirine oleh Pangkoarmada II.
Dalam amanatnya, Pangkoarmada II menekankan pentingnya pemanfaatan KRI Lumba-Lumba 881 secara optimal dalam menghadapi tantangan di wilayah perbatasan. Pangkoarmada II menyoroti tingginya aktivitas di perairan Tarakan, baik dalam aspek ekonomi, penegakan hukum, hingga operasi kemanusiaan seperti pencarian dan penyelamatan. Oleh karena itu, sinergi antara instansi serta kesiapsiagaan seluruh prajurit Jalasena menjadi faktor utama dalam menjaga keamanan perairan nasional.
Lebih lanjut, Pangkoarmada II mengungkapkan bahwa kehadiran KRI Lumba-lumba ini merupakan wujud komitmen TNI Angkatan Laut untuk terus menjaga kedaulatan Negara Kesatuan Republik Indonesia serta melaksanakan penegakkan hukum di dalamnya.

Tanda tanya mengenai status semasa pembinaan dua lagi kapal peronda luar pesisir (OPV) Agensi Penguatkuasa Maritim Malonn (APMM) terjawab selepas kerajaan menamatkan kontrak dengan THHE Destini Sdn Bhd (TDSB) setelah ia gagal menyiapkan projek berkenaan.
Menteri Dalam Negeri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail berkata susulan penamatan yang ditandatangani pada 31 Disember lalu, syarikat itu dikenakan kadar denda dan ganti rugi ditetapkan (LAD) sebanyak RM12.49 juta [AS$2.82 juta] di atas kelewatan menyiapkan kapal OPV 2 dan OPV 3.
Beliau berkata keputusan itu dipersetujui oleh Kabinet pada 22 Mac 2024 sebelum ia dilaksanakan.
“Kementerian Dalam Negeri dibenarkan menamatkan kontrak projek tersebut setelah mendapat pandangan daripada Jabatan Peguam Negara. Sehubungan itu, kerajaan menandatangani perjanjian penamatan bersama pihak syarikat pada 31 Disember 2024,” katanya dalam jawapan bertulis yang dimuat naik dalam laman web Parlimen pada Khamis malam.
Saifuddin berkata TDSB turut dikenakan LAD di atas kelewatan penyiapan kapal OPV 1 yang berjumlah RM5.58 juta [AS$1.26 juta] dan RM9,600 [AS$2,167] bagi kelewatan pembekalan baki 12 unit General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG) serta pembekalan Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) bermula 1 Oktober 2024 hingga tarikh penerimaan oleh kerajaan.

Turkish defence firms Aselsan and Roketsan have signed strategic agreements for defence industry transfers with Indonesia under the leadership of Tรผrkiye’s Presidency of Defence Industries (SSB) in Jakarta.

Turkish defence firms Aselsan and Roketsan have signed strategic agreements for defence industry transfers with Indonesia under the leadership of Tรผrkiye’s Presidency of Defence Industries (SSB) in Jakarta.
Turkish defence firm representatives and Indonesian President-elect and Defence Minister Prabowo Subianto met in the Indonesian capital on Monday, marking a “historic moment reflecting the strong ties between Tรผrkiye and Indonesia,” said Haluk Gorgun, president of the SSB.
In scope of the agreements, Aselsan’s remote controlled stabilised weapon system “SARP,” the four-dimensional search radar “CENK,” the Fire Control System, and the firm’s Data Link will be provided to Indonesia, in addition to Roketsan’s air defence missile system “SUNGUR,” the cruise missile “CAKIR,” and the smart micro munition “MAM-L.”
Additionally, memorandums of understanding on the transfers of unmanned surface vehicles, tank modernisation, and missile system maintenance were signed.

Turkish defence firms Aselsan and Roketsan have signed strategic agreements for defence industry transfers with Indonesia under the leadership of Tรผrkiye’s Presidency of Defence Industries (SSB) in Jakarta.

ASELSAN President & CEO Ahmet Akyol announced that new agreements have been signed with Indonesia in line with ASELSAN's growth objectives for 2030, centered on expanding its global reach.
During an official visit to Indonesia led by the Turkish Presidency of Defence Industries (SSB), strategic agreements related to defense industry transfers were signed, which represents a significant step for reinforcing ASELSAN’s presence in the Asia-Pacific region.

Turkish defence firms Aselsan and Roketsan have signed strategic agreements for defence industry transfers with Indonesia under the leadership of Tรผrkiye’s Presidency of Defence Industries (SSB) in Jakarta.
Turkish defence firm representatives and Indonesian President-elect and Defence Minister Prabowo Subianto met in the Indonesian capital on Monday, marking a “historic moment reflecting the strong ties between Tรผrkiye and Indonesia,” said Haluk Gorgun, president of the SSB.
In scope of the agreements, Aselsan’s remote controlled stabilised weapon system “SARP,” the four-dimensional search radar “CENK,” the Fire Control System, and the firm’s Data Link will be provided to Indonesia, in addition to Roketsan’s air defence missile system “SUNGUR,” the cruise missile “CAKIR,” and the smart micro munition “MAM-L.”
Additionally, memorandums of understanding on the transfers of unmanned surface vehicles, tank modernisation, and missile system maintenance were signed.

Local shipyards have poor record building big ships. LCS is one, Kedah is the first. The MMEA OPV is the other one. No need to be a cheerleader about it and trying to play it safe. It’s bad then it’s bad. Can blame the system, blame the politicians, blame the lack of controls, blame the people, the fact remains the local shipyards failed to deliver, and it has cost RMN. Less we forget, BNS (from the days of PSC-ND) had more than 20+ years to learn building complex ships. Also, the shipbuilding pipeline is too limited to support a local industry, meaning there is no learning possible – BNS (and its predecessor PSC-ND) only had contract to build 12 warships in its existence. In fact, come 2030, after 30 years, if we’re lucky the shipyard would still only have built 11 ships. In contrast ST Engineering had more than 40 ships over 28 years and have confirmed 6 new ships out to 2030. Learning is one thing, tolerating “still learning” after 20 plus years is not good enough. Not recognising learning is not possible because of limited pipeline is another. Local shipyards have proven capable of building certain type of ships because of good pipeline, so good for them that they win those contract – they can learn over time to build bigger ships. But for now, no need to be a cheerleader for local shipyards pitching to win big ships for RMN and MMEA

NGPVs DIBAYAR 27 JADI 6 = The Kedah-class offshore patrol vessels of the Royal Malonnn Navy (RMN) are six ships based on the MEKO 100 design by Blohm + Voss. Originally, a total of 27 ships were planned, but due to programme delays and overruns, only six were eventually ordered. Their construction began in the early 2000s, and by 2009, all six were in active service.

Local shipyards have poor record building big ships. LCS is one, Kedah is the first. The MMEA OPV is the other one. No need to be a cheerleader about it and trying to play it safe. It’s bad then it’s bad. Can blame the system, blame the politicians, blame the lack of controls, blame the people, the fact remains the local shipyards failed to deliver, and it has cost RMN. Less we forget, BNS (from the days of PSC-ND) had more than 20+ years to learn building complex ships. Also, the shipbuilding pipeline is too limited to support a local industry, meaning there is no learning possible – BNS (and its predecessor PSC-ND) only had contract to build 12 warships in its existence. In fact, come 2030, after 30 years, if we’re lucky the shipyard would still only have built 11 ships. In contrast ST Engineering had more than 40 ships over 28 years and have confirmed 6 new ships out to 2030. Learning is one thing, tolerating “still learning” after 20 plus years is not good enough. Not recognising learning is not possible because of limited pipeline is another. Local shipyards have proven capable of building certain type of ships because of good pipeline, so good for them that they win those contract – they can learn over time to build bigger ships. But for now, no need to be a cheerleader for local shipyards pitching to win big ships for RMN and MMEA.

Deputy Defence Minister Adly Zahari said on Thursday that the overall progress of the long-delayed littoral combat ships (LCS) project had reached 70.1% as of Oct 25 this year.

The progress — which includes design, construction, equipping, and testing — is slightly behind schedule by 0.59%, as the planned progress was 70.69%, according to the contract’s timeline.
On the first LCS (LCS 1), the construction is in its final phase and is expected to be completed by the end of this year, Adly noted.

Funding

Aging equipment
• Outdated assets: The MAF's equipment is aging, and the government has been unable to provide modern assets.
• Withdrawal of MiG-29 Fulcrum fighter aircraft: The MAF withdrew its MiG-29 Fulcrum fighter aircraft from service in 2017.
• Su-30MKM Flanker fighter aircraft: The MAF is struggling to keep its Su-30MKM Flanker fighter ground-attack aircraft operational.
Other challenges
• Internal and external threats: The MAF faces threats from within and outside the country, including territorial incursions, radicalization, and violent extremism.
