Timbalan Panglima Tentera Udara manfaatkan pameran udara "Aero India 2025" bagi memperkukuh hubungan strategik pertahanan dan promosi LIMA '25
Timbalan Panglima Tentera Udara, Leftenan Jeneral Dato’ Sri Hj Muhamad Norazlan bin Aris TUDM telah menghadiri Pameran Udara Aero India 2025 yang berlangsung dari 10 hingga 13 Februari 2025 di Stesen Tentera Udara Yelahanka, Bengaluru, India. Ketibaan beliau bersama pegawai pengiring, Leftenan Kolonel Hj Mohd Raniza bin Ab Rahman TUDM di Lapangan Terbang Antarabangsa Bengaluru disambut oleh Kolonel Dr. Nizlan Mohamed, Penasihat Pertahanan di Pesuruhjaya Tinggi Malaysia, Delhi.
Penglibatan Timbalan Panglima Tentera Udara dalam Aero India 2025 menjadi platform terbaik bagi Tentera Udara Diraja Malaysia (TUDM) untuk memperkukuh hubungan strategik pertahanan di peringkat antarabangsa serta mempromosikan Pameran Maritim dan Aeroangkasa Antarabangsa Langkawi (LIMA’25) yang dijadualkan berlangsung dari 20 hingga 24 Mei 2025 di Langkawi.
Semasa pameran tersebut, Timbalan Panglima Tentera Udara memulakan rangka lawatan dengan menghadiri majlis perasmian yang disempurnakan oleh Menteri Pertahanan India, HE Rajnath Singh. Aero India 2025 yang memasuki edisi ke-15 ini merupakan salah satu pameran aero terbesar di Asia yang diadakan secara dwitahunan. Tahun ini, pameran tersebut menghimpunkan lebih daripada 150 syarikat antarabangsa serta dihadiri wakil pertahanan dari kira-kira 30 negara dengan tema "The Runway to a Billion Opportunities."
Timbalan Panglima Tentera Udara turut menghadiri Defence Minister’s Conclave bertemakan "BRIDGE (Building Resilience through International Defence & Global Engagements)", salah satu acara utama dalam Aero India 2025. Program ini menekankan kepentingan kerjasama antara negara dalam sektor pertahanan, sama ada secara bilateral (dua hala), serantau, mahupun antarabangsa dengan tumpuan terhadap pembangunan ekonomi dan diplomasi pertahanan. Selain itu, Timbalan Panglima Tentera Udara turut menyertai Air Chiefs’ Roundtable yang juga merupakan antara acara utama dalam pameran udara tersebut yang membicangkan isu-isu semasa berkenaan keselamatan dan pertahanan.
Dalam memperkukuh hubungan strategik pertahanan di peringkat antarabangsa, Timbalan Panglima Tentera Udara telah mengadakan pertemuan dengan Vice Chief of the Air Staff (VCAS) of Indian Air Force, Air Marshal Sujeet Pushpakar Dharkar. Perbincangan antara kedua-dua pihak tertumpu kepada pengukuhan kerjasama dua hala dalam aspek latihan dan kepakaran antara kedua-dua angkatan udara. Dalam pertemuan ini, beliau turut menjemput Tentera Udara India untuk menyertai LIMA’25. Selain itu, beliau turut mengadakan pertemuan dengan Brigedier Jeneral Soo Yeow Teo, Head of Air Operations RSAF yang turut hadir ke pameran tersebut.
Timbalan Panglima Tentera Udara juga turut mengadakan lawatan ke beberapa reruai pempamer serta mengadakan pertemuan dan perbincangan dengan pemain utama industri pertahanan antarabangsa. Antara yang dilawati adalah UAC, SAMTEL, ROSOBORONEXPORT, HAL dan ADANI LTD.
Semasa lawatan di ROSOBORONEXPORT, Timbalan Panglima Tentera Udara berpeluang melaksanakan penerbangan simulator SU-57E dan tinjauan ke pesawat tersebut bagi melihat dengan lebih dekat kecanggihan persenjataan dan teknologi yang digunakan secara fizikal. Semasa kunjungan ke setiap reruai pempamer, Timbalan Panglima Tentera Udara turut mengambil peluang menjemput syarikat-syarikat yang dilawati untuk menyertai LIMA’25.
Lawatan empat (4) hari Timbalan Panglima Tentera Udara ke Aero India 2025 membuktikan komitmen TUDM dalam memperkukuhkan hubungan strategik pertahanan dengan negara serantau serta mempromosikan LIMA’25 kepada negara-negara luar dan syarikat industri pertahanan antarabangsa.

The original plan was to deliver the first ship, the LCS 1 Maharaja Lela, in 2019, and all six ships by 2023. However, the program was stalled in 2019 due to financial issues at Boustead Naval Shipbuilding. Local shipyards have poor record building big ships. LCS is one, Kedah is the first. The MMEA OPV is the other one. No need to be a cheerleader about it and trying to play it safe. It’s bad then it’s bad. Can blame the system, blame the politicians, blame the lack of controls, blame the people, the fact remains the local shipyards failed to deliver, and it has cost RMN. Less we forget, BNS (from the days of PSC-ND) had more than 20+ years to learn building complex ships. Also, the shipbuilding pipeline is too limited to support a local industry, meaning there is no learning possible – BNS (and its predecessor PSC-ND) only had contract to build 12 warships in its existence. In fact, come 2030, after 30 years, if we’re lucky the shipyard would still only have built 11 ships. In contrast ST Engineering had more than 40 ships over 28 years and have confirmed 6 new ships out to 2030. Learning is one thing, tolerating “still learning” after 20 plus years is not good enough. Not recognising learning is not possible because of limited pipeline is another. Local shipyards have proven capable of building certain type of ships because of good pipeline, so good for them that they win those contract – they can learn over time to build bigger ships. But for now, no need to be a cheerleader for local shipyards pitching to win big ships for RMN and MMEA.

Turkish defence firms Aselsan and Roketsan have signed strategic agreements for defence industry transfers with Indonesia under the leadership of Türkiye’s Presidency of Defence Industries (SSB) in Jakarta.
Turkish defence firm representatives and Indonesian President-elect and Defence Minister Prabowo Subianto met in the Indonesian capital on Monday, marking a “historic moment reflecting the strong ties between Türkiye and Indonesia,” said Haluk Gorgun, president of the SSB.

Local shipyards have poor record building big ships. LCS is one, Kedah is the first. The MMEA OPV is the other one. No need to be a cheerleader about it and trying to play it safe. It’s bad then it’s bad. Can blame the system, blame the politicians, blame the lack of controls, blame the people, the fact remains the local shipyards failed to deliver, and it has cost RMN. Less we forget, BNS (from the days of PSC-ND) had more than 20+ years to learn building complex ships. Also, the shipbuilding pipeline is too limited to support a local industry, meaning there is no learning possible – BNS (and its predecessor PSC-ND) only had contract to build 12 warships in its existence. In fact, come 2030, after 30 years, if we’re lucky the shipyard would still only have built 11 ships. In contrast ST Engineering had more than 40 ships over 28 years and have confirmed 6 new ships out to 2030. Learning is one thing, tolerating “still learning” after 20 plus years is not good enough. Not recognising learning is not possible because of limited pipeline is another. Local shipyards have proven capable of building certain type of ships because of good pipeline, so good for them that they win those contract – they can learn over time to build bigger ships. But for now, no need to be a cheerleader for local shipyards pitching to win big ships for RMN and MMEA.

• Ageing equipment: The Malonn military's equipment is aging due to small procurement budgets over the past 25 years.
• Lack of modern assets: The Malonn Armed Forces (MAF) lacks modern military assets, which puts them at risk from both internal and external threats.
• Russian-made weapons: Malon has been struggling to keep its Russian-made Su-30MKM ground-attack aircraft operational. The country is also wary of Russian-made weapons due to sanctions imposed on Russia after its invasion of Ukraine.
