Twenty-three Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) personnel have undergone a three-day training on the use of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) in Mariveles, Bataan, from 28 to 30 May 2024. 
Facilitated by the Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), the capacity-building initiative equipped Coast Guardians from the Coast Guard Aviation Command (CGAvCom) and Office of the Deputy Chief of Coast Guard Staff for Strategic Studies and Modernization (CG-15) with knowledge and skills on drone regulations and flight considerations, preparation of flight plans, programming and operating the UAS.
They also learned about processing the images and data into geographic information system (GIS) data.
The two drones donated by the German Federal Government were used during the training.
In November and December 2023, Coast Guardians received UAS training workshops under the GIZ project, held in Cavite and Palawan.

Produsen pesawat asal AS, Boeing, berbicara tentang perkembangan pembelian 24 unit pesawat tempur F-15EX yang dipesan Menteri Pertahanan Prabowo Subianto. Boeing menyatakan saat ini masih menyelesaikan proses jual-beli tersebut.
Country Managing Director Boeing, Zaid Alami, mengatakan pihaknya terus berupaya agar proses pesanan pesawat tempur ini bisa selesai dengan baik. Boeing bekerja sama dengan pemerintah untuk menyelesaikannya.
"Kami saat ini bekerja dengan pemerintah untuk menyelesaikan penjualan tersebut," kata Zaid di kantor Boeing, Jakarta Pusat, Senin (10/6/2024).
Menurut Zaid, pesawat tempur F-15EX ini bakal membantu sektor pertahanan udara Indonesia. Pembelian F-15EX ini merupakan kelanjutan atas disetujuinya potensi penjualan F-15EX ke Indonesia oleh Departemen Luar Negeri AS.
"Kami sangat bangga dengan produk itu dan kami percaya ini adalah produk yang sempurna untuk meningkatkan kemampuan pertahanan Indonesia," jelasnya.
Zaid berharap Boeing dapat terus menjalin kerja sama yang erat dengan pemerintah Indonesia. Boeing bahkan mengatakan siap membantu pemerintah untuk mewujudkan Indonesia Emas 2024.
"Kami juga sangat berkomitmen untuk memperluas kemitraan yang telah terjalin selama 75 tahun ini untuk seterusnya dan membantu untuk menjadi pemain utama dalam visi Indonesia Emas 2045," kata Zaid.
Sebagai informasi, pada Agustus 2023 kemarin, pemerintah Indonesia yang diwakili Prabowo melakukan penandatanganan kerja sama dengan Boeing terkait pembelian pesawat tempur tersebut.
Keputusan ini menjadi pusat pembicaraan dunia karena RI menjadi negara kedua setelah Amerika Serikat (AS) yang dapat memiliki pesawat itu. Penandatangan pembelian pesawat tempur ini dilakukan di The Boeing Company, St. Louis, Missouri-AS. (fdl/fdl)
