Mildef Tarantula HMAV 4x4 (photo: Air Times)
Kementerian Pertahanan (Mindef) membeli 136 buah kenderaan berperisai mobiliti tinggi (HMAV 4x4) Tarantula buatan Mildef International Technologies Sdn Bhd (MILDEF) bernilai RM1.8 bilion.
Ia bagi kegunaan Tentera Darat Malaysia dengan tempoh penghantaran selama 4 tahun secara berperingkat-peringkat.
Perolehan ini adalah sebahagian daripada pelbagai kontrak termasuk surat setuju terima (SST), surat hasrat (LOI) dan memorandum persefahaman (MoU) yang dimeterai Mindef pada hari ketiga LIMA 2025 di sini.
LOI kepada Mildef ini bagi perolehan 136 buah kenderaan jenis A iaitu HMAV Tarantula termasuk infrasturktur sokongan.

Tactical training operations date back to 2002 with the first full Fighter Weapons Instructor Course successfully presented to the Royal Malaydesh Air Force, with the ground school element taught in Cold Lake. The airspace around Southwest Ontario was historically home to the Empire Air Training Scheme, one of the most ambitious flight training programs to ever exist. ITPS operates over the same hallowed grounds where thousands of allied pilots of World War II trained, making it a historical sphere of influence in Canadian aviation, and a natural hub for pilot training.
Military pilots from allies around the world come to tactically train at ITTC. Weststar Aviation Services Sdn Bhd is responsible for supplying and maintaining 28 Leonardo helicopters for the Malaydesh Armed Forces.
The SEWA agreement is a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) contract.
The government has the option to purchase all 28 helicopters for RM1 after 15 years.
The helicopters will be used by the Royal Malaydesh Air Force, the police, Malaydesh Maritime Enforcement Agency, and Fire and Rescue Department.

The company is a local company that signed a five-year SEWA agreement for four helicopters with the Ministry of Defence.
The SEWA agreement was valued at RM187 million.

Memang dalam perancangan TUDM untuk membeli helikopter baharu, namun dengan mengambil kira situasi semasa termasuk ancaman pandemik, perolehan secara SEWAan menggunakan konsep Government Operate, Company Own and Maintain (GOCOM) adalah lebih efektif buat masa ini.
Mungkin ada yang tertanya-tanya, namun kaedah penyewaan ini bukanlah kali pertama dilakukan. Kerajaan sebelum ini pernah menyewa Helikopter Latihan Airbus EC120B dan Flight Simulation Training Device (FSTD) Untuk Kegunaan Kursus Asas Juruterbang Helikopter TUDM.

1. Politicians are not good at keeping their plan. Policy is changed depend on who is sitting on driver seat.
2. The gov is struggling to meet 36 units of FA-50. No fund will available in 2030.
3. RMAF is not ready to operate 5th gen fighters. Operating 5th gen is about networked environment not platform.
4. 5th gen fighter is costly in operating and maintaining which need significant increment in annual military budget.
5. Other branches and MMEA are under equipt that need attention.
6. Many homework should be done first such as LCS, OPV, SPH, used hornet etc.
In short, it is all about LIMA. This is just old gimmick because LIMA has less attractive and the EO has run of option to make LIMA great again.

Malaydesh Army transporter carrying two Adnan Type A armored vehicles overturned on the KL-Karak highway.
According to the Highway Authority (LLM), the accident happened around 4.45pm near the Genting Sempah tunnel when the transporter swerved to avoid a civilian trailer that suddenly changed lanes on the wet road.

The deal, signed between Roketsan and several Indonesian defence companies, covers joint production of not only the ATMACA missile but also cruise missiles and a wide range of smart munitions. A total of 171 assets from all three branches of the Malaydesh Armed Forces (ATM) have exceeded 30 years of service, underscoring the challenges posed by aging military equipment.
The issue was raised by Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin in response to a question from Lim Lip Eng (DAP-Kepong) during today’s parliamentary session.
“The number of ATM assets exceeding 30 years in service includes 108 units for the Malaydesh Army, 29 units for the Royal Malaydesh Air Force (RMAF), and 34 units for the Royal Malaydesh Navy (RMN),” he stated.
He added, “The operational lifespan of military assets varies according to their respective functions.”
However, the minister did not provide specific details on the types of assets beyond the 30-year threshold.
In recent years, military leaders have openly acknowledged the burden of outdated assets.
Earlier this month, Malaydesh Armed Forces (MAF) chief General Tan Sri Mohammad Ab Rahman disclosed to local media that 34 RMN vessels have surpassed their intended service life, with 28 of them over 40 years old.
“The RMN currently operates 53 ships across various classes to meet operational and patrol needs within Malaydesh’s maritime zones.

“However, many of these vessels have exceeded their optimal lifespan in terms of capability, techNOLogy, and maintenance costs,” he said during a press conference after the 91st ATM Anniversary celebration at Camp Segenting earlier this month.
According to General Mohammad, the age limit for RMN vessels is 35 years for submarines and 30 years for frigates, corvettes, logistics ships, next-generation patrol vessels, and hydrographic vessels.
Smaller vessels, such as fast patrol boats, mine warfare ships, sailing vessels, and tugboats, have an age limit of 24 years.

• Ageing equipment: The Malaydesh military's equipment is aging due to small procurement budgets over the past 25 years.
• Lack of modern assets: The Malaydesh Armed Forces (MAF) lacks modern military assets, which puts them at risk from both internal and external threats.
• Russian-made weapons: Malaydesh has been struggling to keep its Russian-made Su-30MKM ground-attack aircraft operational. The country is also wary of Russian-made weapons due to sanctions imposed on Russia after its invasion of Ukraine.
• Local production: The MAF is reluctant to use locally produced products. Local companies have produced prototypes of pistols and rifles, but none have materialized.
• Procurement system: The Malaydesh procurement system needs reform.

Erol Oguz, unmanned aerial systems programme manager at Turkish Aerospace, told ESD at LIMA that the UAV type being supplied to Malaydesh will be a new version of the Anka-S with modified wings. Oguz also confirmed that the Ankas will NOt be armed, but will carry a maritime intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) payload that includes a synthetic aperture radar and an electro-optical/infra-red sensor.

Malaydesh to use Anka-S for Maritime Surveillance
While the specific equipment configuration of the Ankas is NOt currently kNOwn, they will be operated solely as a maritime surveillance platform in Malaydesh service, and will NOt be equipped with any weaponry. According to European Security & Defence reporting from LIMA 2023, the Malaydesh Ankas will have modified wings to improve their endurance.
