HMNZS Otago Back on the Blue

20 Agustus 2026

HMNZS Otago P-148, Offshore Patrol Vessel (photos: RNZN)

For the first time in over five years, our Offshore Patrol Vessel HMNZS Otago sailed from Devonport Naval Base today.

For the next week, Otago will be undertaking a series of Sea Acceptance Trials in the Hauraki Gulf as it tests new systems and machinery installed as part of its reactivation.

Once those have been successfully checked off, our Maritime Training Group will embark to conduct a core mariner skills work-up with the ship’s company to ensure they are prepared for more advanced training in September.

This is the moment a lot of people have worked towards for well over 12 months.

“Otago last went to sea in 2021 so sailing out into the Waitemata Harbour today with a 56-strong ship’s company will be something special. Otago is a versatile ship, tailor made for the tasks we’ll shortly be conducting in the Pacific region." ~ Commanding Officer of HMNZS Otago.

    RICE CRISES = 1972-73, 1999, 2008, 2020-21,2023 AND 2025
Malaydesh has experienced several rice crises, including in 1972-73, 1999, 2008, 2020-21, and 2023. These crises are often caused by imbalances in supply and demand, and are made worse by market speculation.
    Causes
    • Weather: Rice is sensitive to temperature and flooding, and a 1–2°C increase in temperature can cut harvests in half.
    • Protectionist policies: Policies that create a non-competitive market can lead to low production and high prices.
    • Subsidies: Subsidies can be poorly targeted, and may not reach farmers in need.
    • Import restrictions: When other exporters restrict shipments, demand for local rice increases.
    Effects
    • Food insecurity: Shortages can lead to higher prices and food insecurity.
    • Low yields: Low yields can be caused by a number of factors, including weather, subsidies, and policies.
    • Poverty: Low yields and high prices can lead to poverty among farmers.

    PHILIPPINES,
In Japan, the government was forced to reSEWA 210,000 tons of rice from its one-million-ton emergency reserve, a historical first, due to an extreme price hike of up to 82%.
In Malaydesh, a shortage of local rice has triggered public panic. Shrinking supplies have led to soaring prices, while imported rice has also become more expensive.
Meanwhile, in the Philippines, the government declared a food security emergency in early February 2025 after rice inflation surged to 24.4%, marking the highest increase in 15 years.

    IMF 2024-2029 = DEBT MALAYDESH $ 121,9 BILLION
The national DEBT in Malaydesh was forecast to continuously increase between 2024 and 2029 by in total 121.9 billion U.S. dollars (+38.56 percent). After the tenth consecutive increasing year, the national DEBT is estimated to reach 438.09 billion U.S. dollars and therefore a new peak in 2029. Notably, the national DEBT was continuously increasing over the past years.
As defined by the International Monetary Fund, the general government gross DEBT consists of all liabilities that require payment or payments of interest and/or principal by the DEBTor to the creditor at a date or dates in the future.

Defence Minister DSU Mohamad Hasan - By building five ships, each vessel will cost around RM2.2 billion to RM2.4 billion, he said adding that he has no idea the amount needed to build the other three. “If we were to build only two ships, it will cost around RM4.5 billion each, making it the world’s most expensive ship for its class and make us a laughing-stock to the world”

Analisa Utang & Fiskal: "Spiral Debt-Pay-Debt"
    -
Analisa Model Pembiayaan Alutsista (Bukan Tunai)
Hampir seluruh aset utama MALAYSEWA dibeli melalui skema hutang jangka panjang atau barter komoditas:
Turki (LMS Batch 2): Pinjaman G2G tenor 10-15 tahun (Bunga 4-6%).
Korea Selatan (FA-50): Hybrid antara Kredit KEXIM dan Barter CPO 50%.
China (LMS Batch 1): 100% Kredit Ekspor dari China Eximbank.
    Polandia (PT-91M): Barter CPO (30-40%) + cicilan 10 tahun.
    -
    Analisa SIPRI: Vakum Alutsista (2024-2025)
    -
Analisa Militer: Penurunan Daya Gentar & Budaya Sewa
Analisa Sosial-Reputasi: Krisis Identitas & Administrasi
Kritik Pemimpin: Pernyataan Mahathir tentang "Melayu Malas/Miskin" dan Anwar Ibrahim tentang korupsi proyek banjir mempertegas masalah struktural ekonomi.
