Earlier today the MSSARS 9316-class submarine rescue ship Yết Kiêu was officially handed over to the Vietnam People's Navy.

It would be remembered that the ship was launched back in December 3rd of 2019 but has spent the last year and several months being fitted out. Construction had started in mid-2018 at state-owned Factory Z189 shipyard.

The Yet Kieu is 3,950 tons and has a max speed of 15.7 knots per hour. It can operate at sea for 30 continuous days/nights and has the ability to withstand level 9 waves along with level 12 winds. It has an operational range of 4,000 nautical miles.

The vessel was unfortunately not prepared in time to offer assistance for the recent Indonesian navy disaster.

Pesawat Tempur F-16 TNI AU Patroli Pulau Terluar di Selat Malaka

Pekanbaru (ANTARA) - Pesawat Tempur F-16 yang bermarkas di Skuadron Udara 16 Lanud Roesmin Nurjadin, Pekanbaru, menggelar patroli udara di Selat Malaka dan Selat Karimata yang bertujuan memantau kondisi pulau-pulau terluar di Indonesia.

"Operasi patroli udara untuk pengamanan dan pemantauan kondisi terkini pulau-pulau terluar wilayah Indonesia barat, di antaranya Pulau Berhala, Pulau Batu Mandi, dan Pulau Rupat, Provinsi Riau," kata Komandan Lanud Roesmin Nurjadin Marsma TNI Andi Kustoro SE dalam keterangannya di Pekanbaru, Sabtu. 

Dia mengatakan berdasarkan pantauan diketahui kondisi pulau terluar di Selat Malaka dan Karimata masih aman.Sejauh ini belum ditemukan pelanggaran wilayah dan potensi ancaman di udara dan permukaan. 

Andi menyebutkan seluruh anggota Skuadron Udara 16, yakni penerbang dan "ground crew" untuk mempersiapkan pelaksanaan operasi dengan sepenuh hati agar hasil yang dicapai lebih maksimal. 

"Meski operasi dilakukan pada masa pandemi, diharapkan para prajurit Skuadron Udara 16, terutama untuk para penerbang dminta tetap semangat demi Indonesia tercinta," katanya. 

"Operasi Patroli Udara dengan Sandi Operasi Lintas Rajawali-21 dilaksanakan secara terjadwal sepanjang tahun di bawah kendali Komando Operasi TNI AU I sesuai dengan tatanan tugas dan tanggung jawab TNI AU," katanya. 

Dalam operasi pesawat termpur tersebut, Komandan Skuadron Udara 16 Letkol Pnb Andri Setyawan ST MMOAS bertindak sebagai "flight leader" dalam Operasi Lintas Rajawali-21 dan tidak ditemukan kendala selama patroli.

US Government Approved Sale of 300 Javelin FGM-148 Missiles to Thailand

WASHINGTON - The State Department has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Government of Thailand of Javelin Missiles and related equipment for an estimated cost of $83.5 million. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency delivered the required certification notifying Congress of this possible sale today.

The Government of Thailand has requested to buy three hundred (300) Javelin FGM-148 Missiles; and fifty (50) Javelin Command Launch Units (CLU). Also included are Enhanced Producibility Basic Skills Trainers; missile simulation rounds; Security Assistance Management Directorate (SAMD) Technical Assistance; Tactical Aviation and Ground Munitions (TAGM) Project Office Technical Assistance; contractor lifecycle support; spares manuals; batteries/chargers; gunner training; ammunition officer training; OCONUS Modified Level 2 Maintenance Training; System Inspection and Check Out (SICO); and other related elements of logistical and program support. The total estimated cost is $83.5 million.

This proposed sale will contribute to the foreign policy and national security objectives of the United States by improving the security of a Major Non-NATO Ally in Southeast Asia. The Javelin Weapon System will replace the obsolete 106mm Recoilless Rifles that the Royal Thai Army (RTA) acquired as part of the Military Assistance Program (MAP) from the Vietnam era. This proposed sale will allow the RTA to modernize their light anti-tank capability and maintain its current force posture, as well as enhance interoperability with the U.S. during operations and training exercises. Thailand is a strategic partner committed to contributing to regional security.

The proposed sale will improve Thailand’s capability to meet current and future threats by improving Thailand’s long-term defense capacity to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity. Thailand will have no difficulty absorbing this equipment into its armed forces.

Batalyon Kavaleri 2/Turangga Ceta menggelar Latihan Menembak Senjata Berat (Latbakjatrat) Tahun 2021 di Pusat Pendidikan Infanteri (Pusdikif) Bandung, Jawa Barat.

Latihan tersebut dalam rangka untuk meningkatkan profesionalisme para anggota Yonkav 2/TC, yang merupakan bagian dari pembinaan kekuatan TNI AD dalam Program Kerja dan Anggaran Tahun 2021.

Dalam latihan menembak tersebut digunakan 3 jenis senjata yaitu Senjata Mesin Berat (SMB) , Senjata Mesin Sedang (SMS) dan Tank Amx 13 Kanon 105.

Danyonkav 2/TC Letkol Kav Faizal Arief Maulana Yusuf, S.I.P. menyampaikan, sasaran latihan yang ingin dicapai adalah dua aspek diantaranya sasaran kuantitatif bagi seluruh personel yang menjabat penembak senjata berat dan sasaran kualitatif dengan tujuan mampu menembak senjata berat Ranpur dengan baik, dan supaya semua personil penembak khususnya dapat mendukung pelaksanaan tugas pokok satuan terlebih lagi umumnya dapat mendukung tugas pokok TNI AD di masa-masa yang akan datang.”

Batalyon Kavaleri 2/Turangga Ceta (atau Yonkav 2/TC) Kodam IV/Diponegoro adalah sebuah pasukan kavaleri Tentara Nasional Indonesia (TNI) yang bermarkas di Ambarawa, Jawa Tengah.

Defence Explores Options for Space Electronic Warfare

The Morrison Government has established Defence Project 9358 to explore options for the acquisition of a ground-based Space Electronic Warfare capability.

The 2020 Defence Strategic Update highlighted that assured access to the space domain is critical to warfighting effectiveness. A Space Electronic Warfare capability, as part of the Australian Defence Force’s approach to space control, seeks to detect and deter attempts to interfere with, or attack, our use of the space domain.

The 2020 Force Structure Plan called for the development of options to enhance ADF space control through capabilities to counter emerging space threats to Australia’s free use of the space domain.

Space Electronic Warfare is a capability that does not create debris or damage the space environment. Defence supports efforts to promote international norms, transparency and cooperation in upholding responsible behaviour in space.

Defence will explore options for a Space Electronic Warfare capability and provide recommendations for a decision by the Government. This capability would help assure Australia’s continued access to space-based communications, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance.

31st Infantry Regiment, King's Guard of The Royal Thai Army Conducts Strategic Parachute Exercises in the United States

On July, 22nd 2021, Paratroopers from across the Division conducted a jump alongside their Allies in the Royal Thai Army and conducted a wing exchange! The 82nd Airborne Division never fights alone and training like this enhances our Airborne Interoperability!

Although as a result of the coronavirus Covid-19 outbreak, this 2021 Cobra Gold 2021 Joint Combined Training Course has been revised to reflect the situation on both sides, The Thai Army and the United States Army.

But the strategic parachute training that the Royal Thai Army send troops from 31st Infantry Regiment, Royal Guard, 1st Brigade, 1st Army Area This is a fast-moving combat ready unit (RDF: Rapid Deployment Force), which has airborne capabilities to receive training from the 82nd Airborne Division (82nd Airborne Division) 'All American' at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, USA during 11-26 July 2021, it is a sign of good military relationship between Thailand and the United States.

The US Army has also conducted strategic parachuting exercises. The same is true for troops from the Indonesian Army which is another friendly country in the ASEAN region, Southeast Asia, the US military attaches great importance to strengthening security in the region.

The preparations in Thailand and the US training of 31st Infantry Regiment, King's Guard also demonstrate the modernization of the Royal Thai Army's air delivery operations, such as the adoption of a new tactical T-11 parachute in Jumped from a transport aircraft Airbus C295W.

Including uniforms, field equipment and body equipment that has been continuously developed to be modern and suitable for use from learning with foreign armies. It also shows the capability of the Royal Thai Army to international friends as well.

Kasau Resmikan Satuan Udara Pencarian dan Pertolongan Wing 4 Lanud Atang Sendjaja

TNI AU. Kepala Staf Angkatan Udara (Kasau) Marsekal TNI Fadjar Prasetyo, S.E. ,M.P.P., meresmikan Satuan Udara Pencarian dan Pertolongan (SATUD PP), di apron SATUD PP, Wing 4 Lanud Atang Sendjaja, Bogor, Jumat (30/7/2021).

Kasau mengatakan, pembentukan Satuan Udara ini, berawal dari inisiatif pimpinan TNI AU, akan kebutuhan pengembangan organisasi, guna melaksanakan tugas Operasi Udara Khusus , dalam bentuk Operasi Pencarian dan Pertolongan atau OPP sebagaimana tercantum pada Doktrin Swa Bhuwana Paksa.

Peresmian, merupakan tindak lanjut dari Peraturan Panglima Tentara Nasional Indonesia Nomor 5 tahun 2021 tentang organisasi dan Tugas Satuan Udara Pencarian dan Pertolongan Wing 4 Pangkalan TNI Angkatan Udara Atang Sendjaja.

“Tugas pencarian dan pertolongan merupakan tugas yang tidak ringan, terlebih cakupan NKRI yang luas. Oleh karena itu, dibutuhkan sinergi TNI AU dengan kementrian dan lembaga lainnya, khususnya dengan Badan Nasional Pencarian dan Pertolongan, ” ujar Kasau.

Dengan diresmikannya Satuan ini, lanjut Kasau, TNI AU telah memiliki satuan yang secara khusus mengoperasikan alutsista guna membina profesionalisme personel dalam melaksanakan tugas pencarian dan pertolongan taktis.

“Saya ingin mengingatkan, bahwa satuan ini memiliki tujuan yang sangat mulia, karena terkait secara langsung dengan keselamatan jiwa manusia,” ungkap Kasau.

Kasau juga melantik Mayor Pnb Tatag Onne Setiawan, sebagai Komandan SATUD PP.

Kasau didampingi Ka BNPP Marsdya TNI Henri Alfiandi dan Pangkoopsau I Marsda TNI Tedi Rizalihadi, juga menandatangani prasasti, launching logo satuan, serta peninjauan fasilitas dan sarana prasana hanggar.

Hadir pada acara tersebut Ka BNPP, Asisten Kasau, Pangkoopsau I, para Kepala Dinas dijajaran Mabesau, pejabat BNPP serta para pejabat Lanud Atang Sendjaja.
