At the 30th anniversary of the All-National Defense Day, the 75th anniversary of the Vietnam People's Army took place on December 21 in Hanoi, the first time the ballistic missile system of Vietnam was be publicly launched.

Although it has been in service for a long time, this is the first time the Scud tactical ballistic missile system of Vietnam has been publicly launched.

According to Stockhom International and Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), in 1981 Vietnam received several mobile launchers and dozens of Scud-B bullets.

R-17E is a ballistic missile of the 9K72E Elbrus export and tactical ballistic missile complex. However, normally the West still calls the same name for the whole system - the Scud ballistic missile.

R-17E rocket has a length of 11.25m, body diameter of 0.88m, weight of 5.9 tons.

The rocket is equipped with the Isayev RD-21 liquid fuel engine (fuel components include TM-185 combustion, AK-27I oxidants and TG-02 launch fuel).

Navigation system uses 3 gyroscopes to allow relative accuracy, radius of target deviation 450m.

R-17E is designed to carry an explosive warhead that usually weighs 1 ton or a 5-70 kiloton nuclear warhead, a chemical warhead.

With explosive warheads, the impact speed of 1.4km / s will create a pit of 1.5-4m deep and 12m wide.

The R-17E rocket is mounted on the 9P117 Uragan mobile launcher based on the MAZ-543 heavy-duty transport vehicle chassis.

When launched, the rocket will be erupted vertically and fired (before it takes time to refuel, launch the target parameter).

By this time, Vietnam was the first and only military in Southeast Asia to have a Scud tactical ballistic missile in service.

Also according to SIPRI, in 1998 Vietnam purchased from North Korea dozens of short-range ballistic missiles Hwasong-6 (Mars 6), this is a copy based on the Scud-C prototype.

Compared to the Scud-B, the Hwasong-6 increased its launch weight to 6,400 kg, and its range soared to 600 km.

Recently, in order to ensure Scud missile technical ability to be ready for combat, the technical units of the Vietnam Missile Brigade had many initiatives to improve the components for the missile to work well.

This number of B and C Scud missiles is considered as one of the powerful weapons of Vietnamese artillery force at present.

On the morning of December 27 in Da Nang, the signing ceremony of building a new Roro 5612 multipurpose amphibious transport ship for the Vietnamese Navy.

The versatile Roro 5612 amphibious transport ship is a product designed by the Dutch Damen Shipbuilding Group and constructed at Song Thu Corporation at the order of the Vietnamese People's Navy.

According to initial information, this is the fourth Roro 5612 of the Vietnam Navy bearing number YN541056, it is worth noting that previously there was no information about the Song Thu building 3 new Roro 5612s to serve the needs inland.

Therefore, it is very likely that we have received 3 Roro 5612s, which were manufactured by Song Thu Corporation at the order of the Venezuelan Navy but because of the insolvency of the partner, we cannot deliver the ship.

According to information from the manufacturer, the versatile Damen Roro 5612 amphibious transport vessel has basic parameters including a length of 57.27 m; width of 12 m; amount of water expansion of 600 tons full load; maximum speed 10.4 knots/h.

Unlike conventional amphibious ships that can approach the coast to land, the Damen Roro 5612 is only capable of landing on the sea or at suitable dock positions due to its role in the shock force.

The design of the Damen Roro 5612 is suitable for transporting and supplying islands, it can carry light amphibious armored vehicles, ships that cannot carry tanks or armored vehicles, heavy steel.

Notably, the versatile amphibious assault ship Damen Roro 5612 is designed to carry 42 containers. The carrying of the container makes it possible to equip puppet launchers Klub-K puppet looks like normal cargo containers.

This is the direction that Vietnam has expressed deep concern and at the same time, it was "suggested" by the Russian side to strengthen the power of "sea guerrilla tactics" while the scale of missile fleet is not really big.

Not only Klub-K with supersonic missiles 3M54, in the future Vietnam is fully capable of building a variant "domestic Klub-K" with containers containing KCT 15 and loaded onto Roro. 5612 to increase the autonomy of weaponry.

Pertumbuhan jumlah penumpang udara domestik meningkat rata-rata 15 persen per tahun selama 10 tahun terakhir, sedangkan jumlah penumpang udara internasional naik hingga sekitar delapan persen.

Selain itu, Indonesia merupakan negara terbesar ketiga di Asia dalam pembelian pesawat udara setelah China dan India.

Vietnam Considers Integrate Kh-35 for Svetlyak after Upgrading Pohang

26 Desember 2019

Vietnam Navy has 6 Svetlyak patrol boat from Russia (photo : KienThuc)

Based on the experience gained from the integration of Kh-35 Uran anti-ship missiles for Pohang, Vietnam can mount them on Svetlyak.

Recently, photos have been shown showing both the anti-submarine protection vessels bearing the number 18 and 20 Pohang class that Korea transferred to the Vietnamese Navy underwent a power upgrade.

Specifically, the ships were added two KT-184 launch tubes of the Kh-35 Uran-E submarine destroyer cruise missile to the space behind the ship, near the light-weight torpedo tube assembly 324 mm.

Thanks to the addition of new weapons, the Vietnam Navy's Pohang-class submarine hunting guard ship has "transformed" into an extremely powerful multipurpose rocket ship, well performing both anti-ship, anti-submarine and fire support roles forces at sea and clearing landing areas.

The reason the Vietnamese People's Navy has to study the integration of Kh-35 anti-ship cruise missiles for Pohang-class submarine-hunting corvettes is because in modern warfare, this weapon is indispensable due to gunboats and fishermen. The mines have a short effective range and the probability of killing the target is not high.

In addition, the number of missile ships of the Vietnamese Navy is currently not much, so if increasing the scale, it will help our combat capacity increase many times compared to today.

The problem now is that after the Pohang class, we can also integrate Kh-35 Uran-E anti-ship missiles to any other class of warships, especially when we have accumulated the following experience upgrade process on.

The answer will most likely be the Svetlyak 400-ton patrol boat - Project 1041.2 because this is the easiest option to deploy when Russia has designed for it the configuration of anti-ship missiles with the name Project 1041.1.

The deployment method is also quite simple, when just adding the fire control radar Garpun-Bal on the top of the radar tower to get the element to shoot for the rocket, the space behind the ship is completely suitable for the launcher KT-184 of Kh-35 Uran.

Besides Svetlyak, the TT-400TP patrol boat can also upgrade anti-ship missile fire in the same way because there are many similarities between the two classes of ships. If the above plan is implemented, it can be said that the strength of the Vietnamese Navy will soar compared to today.
