Amerika Serikat telah menawarkan penurunan suku bunga untuk pembelian jet tempur F-16 Block 70 untuk Royal Thai Air Force dalam upaya untuk membuat pemerintah Thailand memilih jet buatan Amerika dibandingkan pesawat tempur Gripen E buatan Swedia, demikian menurut sebuah sumber. di Kementerian Pertahanan Thailand pada hari Senin sebagaimana dilansir oleh Bangkok Post pada hari Selasa 16 Juli 2024.
Menurut sumber tersebut, AS menurunkan suku bunga pengadaan jet F-16 Blok 70/72 dari 5% menjadi 3,5% "dengan jangka waktu pembayaran yang diperpanjang", namun tidak memberikan rincian lebih lanjut mengenai syarat pelunasan.
Angkatan Udara Thailand sedang mencari pengganti 12 pesawat tempur veteran F-16A/B Fighting Falcon miliknya, dan kandidat yang diajukan adalah Lockheed Martin F-16 Block 70/72 Viper dan SAAB Gripen E. Anggaran yang ada tahun ini adalah untuk pembelian 4 pesawat tempur, namun AS menyodorkan pembelian langsung 12 pesawat tempur dengan sebagian dananya menggunakan pinjaman dengan kredit lunak.
Pemerintah Thailand sedang menunggu tawaran balik (counteroffer) pihak SAAB sebagai pembuat pesawat tempur Gripen E terkait dengan penawaran baru dari AS ini.
Menurut sumber tersebut, AS menurunkan suku bunga pengadaan jet F-16 Blok 70/72 dari 5% menjadi 3,5% "dengan jangka waktu pembayaran yang diperpanjang", namun tidak memberikan rincian lebih lanjut mengenai syarat pelunasan.

Indonesia has marked the entry of its third final batch of 18 Dassault Rafale multirole fighter jets. The first and second batches of fighters entered the force in September 2022 and August 2023, respectively.
With the last delivery officially approved by Jakarta, Dassault has now completed the three-phase order totalling 42 jets, making the country the largest buyer of French arms in southeast Asia.

BalasHapusIt is now yet clear though which of the ships will be diverted for Indonesia. There are currently three ships under construction for the Italian Navy that are scheduled for commissioning between October 2024 and August 2026.
This will depend on when the contract is finalized considering Indonesia’s unusual procurement process where signing a contract does not immediately constitute a confirmed sale.
Funding is believed to be an issue as there have been previous reports of the Indonesian Government still trying to find ways to fund an earlier contract with Fincantieri for the supply and delivery of six FREMM-class large frigates and two refurbished Maestrale-class light frigates.
It is still unclear if Indonesia will prioritize this new contract for two PPA ships, although this might depend on the availability of funding.
