China is expected to soon hand over to the Cambodia navy two warships, a deep-draft pier long enough to accommodate aircraft carriers and facilities it has developed at a base on Cambodia’s coast, Cambodian sources with knowledge of the matter told Radio Free Asia.
About 100 Chinese naval personnel have been “working day and night” at a section of the Ream naval base in Sihanoukville province on the Gulf of Thailand preparing for the transfer to Cambodian control, which is likely to happen at the end of September, said the sources.

In return, analysts say it is likely that the two countries have reached an agreement giving the Chinese navy privileged access to the new base, where until now no foreign vessels have been allowed to dock.
According to satellite images, the new pier is estimated to be roughly 300 meters (1,000 feet) in length and “it ought to be able to accommodate any ship in the PLA Navy’s fleet, including its new Type 003 aircraft carrier,” Shugart told RFA.
The ships there earlier were the Wenshan (hull number 623) and Bazhong (hull number 625), which, beside training Cambodian sailors, took part in the joint Golden Dragon exercise in May with Cambodian naval vessels.

The ships at the base this month are the Aba (hull number 630) and Tianmen (hull number 631), both commissioned in January 2021.
The 300-foot (90-meter) Type 056A corvette is similar to the U.S.-built littoral combat ship, suitable for mid-range and littoral missions and equipped for anti-submarine warfare. The Chinese navy’s South Sea Fleet, which is responsible for activities in the Southeast Asia region, has 20 such vessels.

KUALA LUMPUR – Rancangan perolehan aset baharu Tentera Laut Diraja Malaysia (TLDM) dijangka akan menelan belanja sekurang-kurangnya RM10 bilion untuk tempoh Rancangan Malaysia Ke-13 (RMKe-13).
Perkara tersebut dinyatakan oleh Timbalan Menteri Pertahanan, Adly Zahari semasa Perbahasan Penggulungan Laporan Ketua Audit Negara (LKAN) di Dewan Rakyat, hari ini.
Menurut beliau, perolehan Kapal Misi Pesisir (Littoral Mission Ship) Batch Kedua (LMSB2) yang dilakukan oleh kerajaan pada Jun lalu merupakan sebahagian daripada usaha untuk memperkasakan armada TLDM.
“Di bawah RMKe-13 pula, usaha memperkasakan armada TLDM diteruskan dengan termeterainya perjanjian perolehan bagi tiga buah kapal Littoral Mission Ship Batch 2 dengan negara Turkiye baru-baru ini,” katanya di Dewan Rakyat.
Perolehan 3 buah LMSB2 itu dilakukan melalui kaedah Government to Government (G2G) dengan negara Turkiye.
RMKe-13 merangkumi tempoh tahun 2026-2030.
“Perolehan bagi baki 3 buah LMS lagi akan dimasukkan di bawah RMKe-13,” ujar beliau.
Selain LMS, TLDM turut merancang perolehan 2 buah kapal Multi Role Support Ship (MRSS), 3 buah kapal Littoral Mission Ship Batch 3, 4 buah helikopter anti kapal selam dan 6 buah Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV).
“Proses perolehan bagi aset-aset baharu ini dijangka berlangsung sehingga 2030. Kesemua perolehan aset TLDM ini dianggarkan berjumlah RM10 – RM11 bilion bergantung kepada keadaan ekonomi semasa kerajaan,” katanya.

CANCELLED FIVE TENDERS
The defence ministry has cancelled five procurement tenders for supplies, services and infrastructure projects. The cancellations were to avoid leakages in expenditure, and were in line with a policy of procurement through open tenders.

KUALA LUMPUR – Rancangan perolehan aset baharu Tentera Laut Diraja Malaysia (TLDM) dijangka akan menelan belanja sekurang-kurangnya RM10 bilion untuk tempoh Rancangan Malaysia Ke-13 (RMKe-13).
Perkara tersebut dinyatakan oleh Timbalan Menteri Pertahanan, Adly Zahari semasa Perbahasan Penggulungan Laporan Ketua Audit Negara (LKAN) di Dewan Rakyat, hari ini.
Menurut beliau, perolehan Kapal Misi Pesisir (Littoral Mission Ship) Batch Kedua (LMSB2) yang dilakukan oleh kerajaan pada Jun lalu merupakan sebahagian daripada usaha untuk memperkasakan armada TLDM.
“Di bawah RMKe-13 pula, usaha memperkasakan armada TLDM diteruskan dengan termeterainya perjanjian perolehan bagi tiga buah kapal Littoral Mission Ship Batch 2 dengan negara Turkiye baru-baru ini,” katanya di Dewan Rakyat.
Perolehan 3 buah LMSB2 itu dilakukan melalui kaedah Government to Government (G2G) dengan negara Turkiye.
RMKe-13 merangkumi tempoh tahun 2026-2030.
“Perolehan bagi baki 3 buah LMS lagi akan dimasukkan di bawah RMKe-13,” ujar beliau.
Selain LMS, TLDM turut merancang perolehan 2 buah kapal Multi Role Support Ship (MRSS), 3 buah kapal Littoral Mission Ship Batch 3, 4 buah helikopter anti kapal selam dan 6 buah Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV).
“Proses perolehan bagi aset-aset baharu ini dijangka berlangsung sehingga 2030. Kesemua perolehan aset TLDM ini dianggarkan berjumlah RM10 – RM11 bilion bergantung kepada keadaan ekonomi semasa kerajaan,” katanya.
