Forum airbase.ru of Russia has published the first images of Kilo class diesel-electric submarines of Project 636.1. This is the first submarine of six Kilo submarines shipbuilding contract for a customer in South East Asia.

Earlier, the Russian media announced that information Kilo submarines for Southeast Asian partners was launched on 28/8 last at JSC the shipyard Admiratly in St. Petersburg.

According to Russian sources revealed, the ship was launched for the first Kilo customer number 01,336 and will likely be named the capital of the partner countries.

Is known, Russia is implementing contracts worth $ 2 billion to provide six Kilo class diesel-electric submarines of Project 636.1 Southeast Asian counterparts.

Apart from shipbuilding, the construction of infrastructure and supply of weapons as well as other costs will increase the value of the deal up to $ 4 billion.

It is expected that the first Kilo submarine will be delivered to customers in late 2012 after completing sea trials. The implementation of complete supply six submarines is expected to end in 2016.

Project 636 submarine of 3100 tons, speed 20 knots / hour, the ability to go as deep as 300 meters, a crew of 52 people. Ship is equipped with six torpedo tubes 533 mm, mines, and Caliber cruise missiles.
