First steel cutting ceremony for MCM USV (photo, infographic: RSN)
Earlier today, our Chief of Navy RADM Sean Wat officiated the Plate-Cutting Ceremony for our Mine Countermeasures Unmanned Surface Vessels (MCM USVs), alongside our defence partners from ST Engineering and DSTA Defence Science and Technology Agency at ST Engineering's Gul Yard.
This ceremony marks the first milestone in the vessel-building process for the MCM USVs, which will form part of RSN’s upgraded suite of MCM unmanned capabilities, including MCM autonomous underwater vehicles and Command and Control infrastructures.
Planned for progressive delivery from 2027 onwards, the MCM USVs, together with other upgraded MCM capabilities, will enhance our Navy’s ability to keep Singapore's sea lanes safe. These capabilities will progressively replace the Bedok-class MCM vessels.
