BANGKOK, (NNT) – The Cabinet agreed that the Defense Ministry sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for cooperation among countries using Gripen 39 fighter aircraft, while the Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Air Force is authorized to sign the MoU .

The objective of the MoU is to tighten cooperation in battles and techniques among Gripen 39 users which are the Defense Ministries of countries such as the Czech Republic, Hungary, South Africa, Sweden and Thailand.

The Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Defense viewed that the MoU was not a treaty as defined in section 190 (2) of the Charter, so an approval from the Parliament would not be required. However, it must first be approved by the Cabinet with the authorization of the country's representative to sign the MOU.
