Navy allocates Php8.1 million for machinery, structural repair of naval tanker

MANILA (PNA) -- The Philippine Navy (PN) has allocated Php8.179 million for the machinery and structural repair of the M/T Lapu-Lapu, one of the naval tankers in its service.

Interested bidders must deliver the above-mentioned services within 30 days.

The PN has up to six naval tankers which deliver fuel and lubricants to other vessels of the Philippine fleet.

  1. Yes, MT Lapu Lapu - 2008 is one of two (the other two ships are MT Jose P Rizal - 2003 & MT Emilio Jacinto - 2007) commercial tankers donated by the Philippine National Oil Co. PNOC to the Philippine Navy PN last year 2014. Induction of these tankers will greatly enhance PN’s Replenishment at Sea Capability, but I do think the PN will not install facilities or equipment for Parallel RAS System since it will be more costly due to major structural modifications and other related equipment acquisition. I do believe that the PN will just install the Astern RAS System which is more economical and does have the same outcome from the later system mentioned.
