During a recent Congressional hearing on the Department of National Defense DND budget for fiscal year 2025 Defense Secretary Gilberto teodoro highlighted a significant development in the Philippine Navy's modernization efforts
The Navy is poised to significantly enhance its Fleet support infrastructure through the procurement of new dry docks and a range of other critical equipment.
According to a detailed report released by the Philippine Navy there is a clear intention to acquire two new floating dry docks to accommodate the growing needs of its Fleet
The first Dry Dock with a capacity of 3,500 tons is intended to service smaller vessels.
This new facility will provide essential maintenance and repair capabilities for these ships ensuring that they remain operationally ready and in optimal condition.
The ability to conduct more efficient and thorough maintenance on these smaller vessels is crucial as they form a vital part of the Navy's overall operational capability.
In addition to the smaller dock the Navy plans to procure a larger floating Dry Dock with a capacity of 8,000 tons. This facility will be dedicated to the maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) of larger Capital ships.
The acquisition of this larger dry dock is a strategic move to ensure that the Navy's bigger vessels which serve as the backbone of the Fleet receive the necessary care and attention to remain in top operational shape.

The Finance Ministry stated that the aggregate national household debt stood at RM1.53 trillion between 2018 and 2023. In aggregate, it said the household debt for 2022 was RM1.45 trillion, followed by RM1.38 trillion (2021,) RM1.32 trillion (2020), RM1.25 trillion (2019) and RM1.19 trillion (2018). “The ratio of household debt to gross domestic product (GDP) at the end of 2023 also slightly increased to 84.2% compared with 82% in 2018,” it said.

The ministry was replying Labis MP, Pang Hok Liong in the Dewan Rakyat yesterday who asked the ministry to reveal the country’s aggregate household debt between 2018 and 2023.
For the period from 2018 to 2023, the ministry said the average annual growth of household debt was 5.1%. Other household debts included vehicle loans at 13.2%, personal financing (12.6%) and loans for other purposes, including non-residential property purchases, credit card debt, securities and others.

2024 = KUALA LUMPUR: Housing loans made up the largest chunk of household debt in Malaysia at 60.5%, it was revealed. The Finance Ministry stated that the aggregate national household debt stood at RM1.53 trillion between 2018 and 2023. In aggregate, it said the household debt for 2022 was RM1.45 trillion, followed by RM1.38 trillion (2021,) RM1.32 trillion (2020), RM1.25 trillion (2019) and RM1.19 trillion (2018). “The ratio of household debt to gross domestic product (GDP) at the end of 2023 also slightly increased to 84.2% compared with 82% in 2018,” it said.
The ministry was replying Labis MP, Pang Hok Liong in the Dewan Rakyat yesterday who asked the ministry to reveal the country’s aggregate household debt between 2018 and 2023.
For the period from 2018 to 2023, the ministry said the average annual growth of household debt was 5.1%. Other household debts included vehicle loans at 13.2%, personal financing (12.6%) and loans for other purposes, including non-residential property purchases, credit card debt, securities and others.
