Bendigo defence manufacturer Thales is hoping to know later this year if it has won a major vehicle supply contract with the Australian Defence Force.
It is one of three companies short listed to supply vehicles under the Defence Force's Land 121-Phase Three program.
Defence Force chiefs are currently testing the single and dual-cab Bushmaster utility.
The Member for Bendigo, Labor's Steve Gibbons, says he believes the Defence Force may order more than what was originally predicted.
"Originally the number of vehicles required was around 200 or 150 but I understand that Defence operational requirements are changing all the time and the contract may well be for a much larger number of vehicles," he said.
