Indonesian Defence Minister Purnomo Yusgiantoro says the country is planning to buy "dozens" of helicopters from Eurocopter.
Jakarta will reportedly also buy 16 T-50 Golden Eagle jet trainers from South Korea's Korea Aerospace Industries.
Mr Yusgiantoro says Indonesia needs to beef up its poor defences by purchasing light jet fighters and helicopters to deal with security threats.
He also said the government is aiming eventually for "joint production" of the helicopters in Indonesia.
