Qantas Defence Services (QDS) will provide support for the RAAF’s fleet of PC9/A trainer aircraft under a new contract signed with the Commonwealth government on March 29.
The agreement will see QDS conduct repair and overhaul of the fleet’s Pratt & Whitney PT6A engines and Hartzell HC-D4N2A propellers for an initial five-year periodwith an optionto extend for a further three years, at its propulsion systems facility in Villawood in Western Sydney.
"This is a proud moment for our business,” said Scott Harris, Head of QDS.
“We work closely with the Commonwealth on a range of RAAF programs, from MRTT tanker conversion and sustainment to the maintenance of Special Purpose Aircraft.”
“Our propulsion systems unit has a track record of delivering results and we look forward to supporting this important RAAF training and combat aircraft.”
The program will increase QDS’s capabilities on a variety of propulsion systems and strengthen its growing partnership with the RAAF.
