Deftech Offers Cambodia and Myanmar to Modernize Soviet-Made Tanks

Representatives of the Malaysian company DEFTECH in the DSA-2014 exhibition held talks with a delegation of NE Cambodia on repair and modernization of the armament of the country tanks T-54/T-55.

As reported by "Burnham" referring to statements by the "Deftech" cost of the program could range from 161.95 to 194.34 million riels (50-60 million dollars).

Number of machines to be repaired and the amount of modernization will depend on how much the program will allocate command Cambodia and the loan amount, which will provide one of the Malaysian banks.

According to various sources, Cambodia Armed Forces has from 150 to 500 MBT T-54/T-55.

According to "Jane Defence Weekly", this program Malaysian company plans to implement in conjunction with The Polish defense holdings (Polski Holding Obronny, previously - "Bumar"). This company in 2009 put Malaysian Army 48 PT-91M tanks (Polish modification of T-72). Since delivering tanks company "Deftech" fulfilled their service under contract with Malaysian Army, and thus gained experience repair armored Soviet production.
