Two 22661E "Gepard-3.9" frigates, built at the Zelenodolsk shipyard, will be handed over to the Vietnam Navy this fall season, General Manager of the Renat Mistahov factory reported to Russian Navy Commander Admiral Vladimir Korolev on Tuesday.
"The first ship will be handed over on September 8, the second ship - in November," Mistahov said.
Vietnam's Gepard continues to test the Black Sea. He thanked the Naval Commissar for the assistance of Russian sailors in the trials of Vietnamese ships.
The first pair of patrol boats "Gepard-3.9" attack version was built and delivered to Vietnam in 2010-2011.
The second pair was ordered as the anti-submarine version. The pair was booked in 2013. Shipbuilding was delayed due to problems with the supply of engines from Ukraine.
