Jakarta --- Dalam rangka meningkatkan hubungan kerjasama dengan negara sahabat, Kepala Staf Angkatan Laut (Kasal) Laksamana TNI Dr. Muhammad Ali melaksanakan kunjungan kerja ke Turki pada tanggal 13-14 Mei 2025.
Dalam kesempatan tersebut, Kasal berkesempatan untuk meninjau kapal Frigate MILGEM I-Class di galangan kapal Sedef Shipyard, Istanbul. Selanjutnya, Kasal meninjau perkembangan pembangunan 2 unit Kapal Cepat Rudal (KCR) Full Combat Mission pesanan Indonesia di galangan kapal Sefine Shipyard.
KCR Full Combat Mission telah memulai First Steel Cutting (FSC) pada Oktober 2024 lalu, di mana kapal ini memiliki spesifikasi panjang keseluruhan 70 meter dengan lebar 11,7 meter, berkecepatan maksimal +40 knots, dengan awak 43 personel.

Dengan dilengkapi Combat Management System (CMS) dan persenjataan seperti meriam kaliber 76 mm, stabilized automatic machine gun 12,7 mm serta Surface to Surface Missile (SSM), diharapkan di waktu yang akan datang dua kapal ini akan semakin mendukung dan meningkatkan performa pelaksanaan tugas TNI AL.
Kasal juga berkesempatan menyaksikan demonstrasi Unmanned Surface Vehicle (USV) Marlin, yang mampu dikendalikan secara otonom maupun remote.
Pada kunjungan kerja ini, turut mendampingi Kasal antara lain Koorsahli Kasal Laksda TNI Kris Wibowo, Asrena Kasal Laksda TNI Achmad Wibisono, Askomlek Kasal Laksda TNI Tri Harsono, dan Kadissenlekal Laksma TNI Dwi Cahyo Kuncoro.

ROME — Italy is considering buying the Japanese Kawasaki P-1 maritime patrol aircraft to tackle hostile submarines in the Mediterranean, a move which would break an Italian tradition of U.S. aircraft purchases and strengthen ties with Tokyo.
“The P-1 is is one of the possible options available,” Italian Air Force chief Luca Goretti told reporters on Friday when asked how Italy aimed to fill gaps in its maritime patrol capability.
As Italy retired the last of its long serving Atlantique maritime patrol planes in 2017 it acquired ATR 72′s jointly built by Airbus and local firm Leonardo to fill the role, operated by mixed Air Force and Navy crews.
But while offering electronically scanned radar, the aircraft lacked anti-submarine warfare capabilities and were only considered a gap filler.
A new purchase to fill that gap would coincide with renewed naval activity in the Mediterranean by friendly and hostile powers.
Acquiring the P-1 instead of the US P-8 aircraft would follow years in which Italy has looked to the U.S. for imported aircraft including B767 tankers, C-130s, Gulfstream sensor aircraft, F-35s and Reaper drones.
Italy has recently boosted ties with Japan as the two countries team with the U.K. on the GCAP sixth-generation fighter program.

The OTO Melara 127mm/64cal Lightweight (LW) on the GP variant is part of the VULCANO system which consists of four key sub-systems: the medium caliber 127/64 LW Gun assembly, the Automated Ammunition Handling System, the Naval Fire Control Support and the VULCANO family of ammunition. The system is intended for surface fire and naval gunfire support as main role and anti-aircraft fire as secondary role. The 127/64 LW - VULCANO is equipped with a modular feeding magazine, composed by 4 drums with 14 ready to fire ammunition each (56 in total), reloadable during firing, and highly flexible in terms of selection of ammunition, independently from their position in the drums. Ammunition flow is reversible as rounds can be downloaded automatically. The 127mm VULCANO ammunition family, is composed by Ballistic Extended Range (BER) and Guided Long Range (GLR) ammunition with different multifunctional fuses, sensor and final guidance that extend the range of the gun up to 100km. LITTORAL COMBAT SHIP (LCS) PROGRAM HAS BEEN INVOLVED IN A SCANDAL THAT INCLUDES:
• Construction delays
The Public Accounts Committee found that the construction of the six LCS ships was delayed and had discrepancies.
• Cost overruns
The cost of building the ships increased by 22% to RM11.14 billion, which could result in losses of RM890.22 million for Boustead Heavy Industries Corp Bhd.
• Power abuse
Several high-profile people were accused of abusing their power and siphoning money in the purchase of the ships.
• Launch before completion
The RMN's first LCS, LCS 1 Maharaja Lela, was launched in 2017 before it was fully completed.
• Radar choice
The RMN reportedly requested the Thales Herakles radar, but BHIC chose the SMART-S radar instead.
The original program plan called for the delivery of LCS 1 Maharaja Lela to the RMN in 2019, with all six ships delivered by 2023.
The LCS is a class of Small Surface Combatants designed to provide joint force access in the littorals

The OTO Melara 127mm/64cal Lightweight (LW) on the GP variant is part of the VULCANO system which consists of four key sub-systems: the medium caliber 127/64 LW Gun assembly, the Automated Ammunition Handling System, the Naval Fire Control Support and the VULCANO family of ammunition. The system is intended for surface fire and naval gunfire support as main role and anti-aircraft fire as secondary role. The 127/64 LW - VULCANO is equipped with a modular feeding magazine, composed by 4 drums with 14 ready to fire ammunition each (56 in total), reloadable during firing, and highly flexible in terms of selection of ammunition, independently from their position in the drums. Ammunition flow is reversible as rounds can be downloaded automatically. The 127mm VULCANO ammunition family, is composed by Ballistic Extended Range (BER) and Guided Long Range (GLR) ammunition with different multifunctional fuses, sensor and final guidance that extend the range of the gun up to 100km. The rate of fire is 32rds per minute. General Purpose FREMMs are getting the highly Automated Ammunition Handling System for the 127/64 mm gun, which holds 350 127mm shells in addition to the 56 in the four reload drums of the gun turret.

Kuala Lumpur: On June 27 at Subang Air Force Base, Ambassador Edgard D. Kagan joined General Asghar Khan, Chief of the Royal Malaysian Air Force, to commemorate the conversion of three Royal Malaysian Air Force transport aircraft (CN235) into Maritime Surveillance Aircraft (MSA). The conversion program, which began in 2018 and totaled approximately $60 million U.S. dollars under the Maritime Security Initiative, served as the first major U.S. security grant program in Malaysia.
The CN-235s are now enhanced with maritime surveillance radars, electro-optical infrared turrets, beyond line-of sight communications and roll-on/roll-off system operator stations. The aircraft are attached to Squadron 1 at Kuching Airbase in Sarawak.
Between 2019-2023, the U.S. provided more than $240 million in total security assistance.
