Kementerian Pertahanan (Kemenhan) dan PT PAL, perusahaan pembuat kapal milik negara, mengumumkan pada 30 Oktober bahwa untuk pertama kalinya, Indonesia telah menembakkan torpedo dari kapal selam otonom yang dikembangkan di dalam negeri.
Tonggak sejarah ini dicapai oleh kapal selam tersebut, yang dikenal sebagai Kapal Selam Otonom (KSOT), di perairan Pangkalan TNI Angkatan Laut (PAL) di Surabaya pada hari yang sama dengan pengumuman tersebut.

Penembakan tersebut disaksikan oleh Menteri Pertahanan RI Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, Panglima TNI Jenderal Agus Subiyanto, Kepala Staf Angkatan Laut Laksamana Muhammad Ali, dan sejumlah pejabat senior dari Kementerian Pertahanan.
Mereka menyaksikan penembakan tersebut dari dek kapal rumah sakit TNI Angkatan Laut KRI dr. Soeharso 990.
Baik Kementerian Pertahanan maupun PT PAL belum memberikan rincian lebih lanjut mengenai penembakan tersebut, tetapi gambar-gambar yang diambil menunjukkan bahwa penembakan tersebut melibatkan satu torpedo latih 324 mm yang ditandai dengan warna oranye pada munisi tersebut.
Salah satu gambar juga menunjukkan adanya gumpalan gelembung yang jelas dan gelombang berbusa di permukaan air. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa torpedo tersebut ditembakkan menggunakan gas atau udara bertekanan (compressed gas or air), dan KSOT menggunakan metode peluncuran kering (dry launch method) untuk penembakan torpedonya.
Selama penembakan, kapal selam tersebut menggunakan tiang optronik yang dapat ditarik, dilengkapi dengan sensor elektro-optik, antena radio, dan antena yang tampak seperti antena multi-input dan multi-output (MIMO).

Dalam pernyataan untuk menandai tonggak sejarah ini, Sjamsoeddin menggambarkan program KSOT sebagai langkah strategis menuju kemandirian dalam pertahanan maritim dan meletakkan fondasi bagi sistem bawah air yang dikembangkan di dalam negeri di masa depan, termasuk kendaraan bawah air tanpa awak dan kendaraan bawah air otonom.

KSOT adalah singkatan dari Kapal Selam Otonom Tanpa Awak. Teknologi ini dikembangkan oleh PT PAL Indonesia dan menjadi pencapaian signifikan bagi industri pertahanan dalam negeri.
Berikut penjelasan rinci mengenai proyek ini:
Pengembangan mandiri: Indonesia menjadi salah satu dari sedikit negara di dunia yang mampu mengembangkan dan memproduksi kapal selam tanpa awak. Ini menunjukkan kemandirian dan kemajuan teknologi pertahanan maritim Indonesia.
Tujuan produksi: 30 unit KSOT ini akan digunakan untuk menjaga "choke point" (titik-titik strategis) perairan Indonesia. Dengan armada ini, keamanan maritim di wilayah strategis dapat ditingkatkan.
Teknologi canggih: KSOT-008, prototipe yang diuji coba, adalah kapal selam yang dikendalikan secara otonom melalui satelit dari Pusat Komando Kapal Selam Otonom. Teknologi ini dirancang sebagai pelengkap bagi armada kapal selam berawak dan memiliki efisiensi tinggi dari segi material, waktu, dan personel.
Target waktu: Kementerian Pertahanan menargetkan produksi 30 unit KSOT ini dapat selesai pada tahun 2026.

Jakarta, IDM – Menteri Pertahanan RI Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin menargetkan Indonesia, dalam hal ini TNI Angkatan Laut, mempunyai 30 kapal selam otonom atau nirawak pada 2026.
Kapal selam yang dimaksud adalah autonomous submarine atau KSOT produksi PT PAL Indonesia.
