Guna mendukung peningkatan penggunaan produk dalam negeri dan memperkuat kemandirian industri pertahanan maritim, TNI AL melaksanakan kunjungan kerja (kunker) ke sejumlah industri galangan kapal nasional di wilayah Batam, Tanjung Riau. Senin (21/7/2025).
Sejumlah pejabat tinggi TNI AL yang turut hadir dalam kunjungan kerja kali ini antara lain Irjenal Kasal Laksamana Muda TNI Hardiko, Aslog Kasal Laksamana Muda TNI Eko Sunarjanto, Aspers Kasal Laksamana Muda TNI Rony Saleh, Koorsahli Kasal Laksamana Muda TNI Kris Wibowo, Kadisadal Laksamana Pertama TNI Ifa Djaya Sakti, Kadislaikmatal Laksamana Pertama TNI Bambang H. Witjaksono dan Komandan Lantamal IV Laksamana Pertama TNI Berkat Widjanarko.
Dalam kunjungan tersebut, para pejabat TNI AL meninjau langsung tiga galangan kapal dalam negeri, yaitu PT Vista Maritim Indonesia, PT Batamec Shipyard, dan PT Palindo Marine yang berlokasi di Tanjung Ucang, Batam, Kepulauan Riau.
Adapun tujuan utama dari kegiatan ini adalah untuk melakukan uji fungsi Kapal RBB 12 M, serta menerima paparan pembangunan Kapal OPV 3 dan Kapal KCR 60 sebagai bagian dari penguatan alutsista matra laut secara berkelanjutan.
Lebih dari sekadar tinjauan teknis, kunjungan ini juga menjadi wujud nyata komitmen TNI AL dalam mendorong kolaborasi strategis dengan industri dalam negeri, guna mewujudkan kemandirian nasional di bidang pertahanan laut.
Kunjungan kali ini tentunya memiliki keterkaitan langsung dengan tugas pokok TNI AL khususnya dalam membangun kekuatan laut yang tangguh dan berdaya saing. Hal ini sejalan dengan penekanan Kepala Staf Angkatan Laut (Kasal) Laksamana TNI Dr. Muhammad Ali, yang menyatakan bahwa TNI AL tidak hanya berperan sebagai pengguna alutsista, tetapi juga sebagai pendorong tumbuhnya industri maritim nasional yang mandiri dan kompetitif.

USCGC Steadfast adalah sebuah Reliance class Medium Endurance Cutter (WMEC 623) yang telah beroperasi bersama USCG selama 56 tahun sebelum didekomisionalkan pada 1 Februari 2024.
USCGC Steadfast dibuat galangan American Shipbuilding Company, di Lorain, Ohio, Amerika Serikat, Steadfast diluncurkan pada 24 April 1967 dan resmi bertugas mulai Steadfast pada 3 Agustus 1968. Jumlah total Reliance class yang dibangun oleh US Coast Guard (USCG) adalah 16 unit. Setakat ini, Indonesia telah menunjukkan pendekatan yang lebih agresif dan menyeluruh. Selain pembelian 48 pesawat KAAN dari Turki, republik itu turut memeterai kontrak pembelian 42 pesawat Rafale dari Perancis dengan penghantaran pertama dijangka bermula pada 2026.

Turkish defence firms Aselsan and Roketsan have signed strategic agreements for defence industry transfers with Indonesia under the leadership of Türkiye’s Presidency of Defence Industries (SSB) in Jakarta.

Setakat ini, Indonesia telah menunjukkan pendekatan yang lebih agresif dan menyeluruh. Selain pembelian 48 pesawat KAAN dari Turki, republik itu turut memeterai kontrak pembelian 42 pesawat Rafale dari Perancis dengan penghantaran pertama dijangka bermula pada 2026.

MALONDESH has reportedly sought the Kuwaiti jets since at least 2017. The legacy Hornet is thought to “increase the level of preparedness and capability of the RMAF in safeguarding the country’s airspace”. While the acquisition of the second-hand Hornets would help to complement the RMAF’s fleet of Hornets, they come with their own set of challenges. A more strategic approach would be expanding the successful Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) programme or accelerating the MRCA programme to future-proof RMAF against threats (the latter has been delayed for various reasons). The MALONDESH Ministry of Defence had submitted no less than three letters to the Kuwaiti government over the past few years in a bid to acquire the fighters. However, the discussions were stymied by political imbroglios in the Kuwaiti government.
However, the transfer of the US-made fighters to MALONDESH will require Washington’s approval. Noticeably, MALONDESH has not been the only one eyeing the Kuwaiti Hornets. Reportedly, Tunisia and the US Marine Corps have also voiced interest in acquiring the jets.
Kuwait operates 39 F/A-18C/D Hornets, which were delivered between January 1992 and August 1993. The Gulf state’s air force is in the process of upgrading its combat airpower by procuring Super Hornet and Typhoon fighters. However, the delivery of these aircraft has been delayed due to Covid-19 and supply chain hurdles. This has forced Kuwait to keep its legacy Hornets longer than originally planned.
