Esterline CMC Electronics is awaiting the go-ahead from the Malaysian government to begin the joint upgrade with Malaysia's Airod of the Royal Malaysian Air Force's (RMAF's) C-130 fleet, according to a company official.

Alan Vlemmiks, business development executive Asia Pacific at Esterline CMC, told IHS Jane's that the company is prepared to begin work as soon as the Malaysian government finalised its decision.

Airod was awarded a letter of intent in April 2014 for the upgrade of the avionics and communications systems aboard the RMAF's entire fleet of 14 C-130 aircraft to meet international aviation traffic standards.

This is to be done together with a government-selected foreign company, and Esterline CMC subsequently was selected by the Malaysian government for the programme.
