Fincantieri and the Indonesian Ministry of Defense have signed the contract for the supply of 2 Multipurpose Offshore Patrol Vessels to Indonesia, for a value of 1.18 billion euros.
The 2 PPAs covered by the order are units originally intended for the Navy, currently under construction at the Integrated Shipyard of Riva Trigoso-Muggiano. Specifically, there should be 2 PPAs in the LIGHT + version, therefore the MARCANTONIO COLONNA (launched on 26 November 2022) and the RUGGIERO DI LAURIA (launched on 6 October 2023), given that the third and final LIGHT+ unit, RAIMONDO MONTECUCCOLI, has already been delivered to the Navy (27 September 2023).

The Contract was signed by the CEO of Fincantieri, Pierroberto Folgiero, in the presence of the General Director of the Military Ships Division, Dario Deste.

The Indonesian interest in PPAs, which we had already written about previously, was born from the FRANCESCO MOROSINI (LIGHT) naval campaign in the Indo-Pacific (which ended in October 2023), which contributed to making the PPA product known internationally, arousing great interest on the market.

PSC-Naval Dockyard had never built anything but trawlers or police boats before being given the contract, the company was contracted to deliver six patrol boats for the Malaysian Navy in 2004 and complete the delivery in 2007. Those were supposed to be the first of 27 offshore vessels ultimately cost RM24 billion plus the right to maintain and repair all of the country’s naval craft. But only two of the barely operational patrol boats had been delivered by mid-2006.

The ship was built as the Ojika for the Japanese Coast Guard in 1990–1991

ZONAJAKARTA.COM- Beda nasib dengan Indonesia yang membuka bengkel MRO sukhoi di dalam negeri, Malaysia justru terancam mempensiunkan Su-30 miliknya.
Pada tahun 2017, Malaysia menghentikan layanan pesawat tempur MiG-29 dan juga berjuang untuk mempertahankan operasional pesawat serang darat Su-30MKM.
Pada Singapore Airshow 2024, jet tempur Angkatan Udara Malaysia, Su-30 yang dipasok Moskow, adalah satu-satunya yang memperlihatkan peralatan militer buatan Rusia.
Namun, dikutip Zonajakarta.com dari Defense News edisi 21 Februari 2024, seorang pilot Malaysia membocorkan nasib jet tempur Su-30 milik negaranya di masa depan.
