Indra Wins Contract Supply State of the Art Lanza 3D Radar to the RTAF

Indra, one of the world's top technology and consulting companies, has signed a contract for the delivery of its 3D radar, LANZA LRR, to the Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF). Indra’s radar will also include the delivery of other associated equipment such as Indra’s AirDef (an advanced air defence command and control system). The company will also provide a comprehensive logistic package including training to the Royal Thai Air Force operation and maintenance personnel, spares and warranty.



Lanza is a family of state of the art 3D radar systems based on a fully modular and scalable architecture, both in hardware equipment and software packages/capabilities. Sharing common logistics and life cycle support concepts, this family includes a wide variety of possibilities of configuration adapted to the particular needs of each End User in all cases achieving the most demanding, or specific, operational requirements and cost effectiveness trade off. These multi-scenario, multi-role radars not only meet current NATO requirements, but also include advanced functionalities to meet future challenges.

All radar systems in the family are tri-dimensional, solid state, operate in L band, apply pencil beam exploration (electronic control in elevation of radiation beams), with distributed architecture, redundant in critical elements, allowing for soft-fail degradation in the case of certain items failure.



The company has been working on the design, manufacture, operation and integration of 3D radars for more than 30 years. Furthermore, the LANZA radar family is currently in service in the five continents.

With this project, Indra closes a relevant deal, which reaffirms its leading position as global Defence and Security technology solutions supplier. At the same time, Indra reinforces its commercial position in the Asia-Pacific region, where the company has operated for more than two decades. Indra has offices in China, India, Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia and Australia. Indra has a permanent presence in Thailand through its commercial office, opened in 2017. The company already delivered in this country, three air traffic control radars, all of them currently in operation.

  1. Bareng tak ukur neng peta, jebul jarak antara pulau2 utama tekane pulau terluar kui roto2 200-400 km.

    Contone, jarak pulau natuna besar/kalimantan, tekane pulau sekatung kurang luwih 200 km, jarak manado-pulau tahuna 378 km, jarak tahuna-miangas 178 km...lan sakpiturute.

    Coba dibayangke, yen saben pulau terluar dipasangi radar...gel butuh pirang iji kuiπŸ€”

    1. Kan kemarin pesan lagi 6 radar GCI paakk.. kemungkinan ditaruh yg masih bolong2.. seperti Bengkulu, Pontianak, Sumbawa, Kep.Maluku, Morotai, Jayapura. Kalau dari Morotai pakai weibel bisa kok sampai Miangas. Pesawat AEW&C boleh juga tuh.. wkwkwk.. belinya bareng 3 skuadron viper..

    5. Misal pesawat AEW&C operasionalnya kemahalan kalau dioperasiin tiap hari buat TNI, konsep EL/M-2083 Israel bisa dicoba lah. Balon helium dijangkar ke tanah, dipasangin radar. Jadinya kaya AEW&C mini dan stasioner tapi ga perlu bayar avtur dan perawatannya ga semahal pesawat. Jaraknya 500 kman pula karena terbang jadi bisa minimalisir ground clutter.

    7. Keliling RI termasuk ZEE itu sekitar 10.171 km dibuletke 10.200 km.

      Sekarang tinggal mau pakai radar yg jaraknya berapa ratus km ? 300 km ? 400 km ? 450 ? Atau kombinasi.

      Lalu tinggal dibagi aja, misal pakai radar 450 km, jadi :
      10200 / 450 = 22,67 dibulatkan 23 unit.

    8. @PS Iya. Kan jatohnya pasti lebih murah juga dari pesawat AEW&C kalo harus dipake patroli tiap hari. Pasangin AESA yang bagus langsung maknyuss, F-35 juga deg-degan kalo mau deket-deket hehe.

      Pancen neng donya iki ora ono samubarang sing sampurno...mulane diciptakke ground base radar, pesawat aew, radar oth, satelit, drone lan radar sing ditemplokke neng balon helium...kui kabeh pigunane kanggo saling nutupi kekurangane piranti liyane.

      Contone balon radar helium gawean israel, pigunan utamane kanggo ngawasi obyek sing mabur cendek koyo rudal jelajah utowo drone...sing ora kepantau karo ground base radar amergo faktor kelengkungan bumi😎

    11. Nah...yen babagan pesawat AEW sing paling efisien, carane milih mengkene:
      1. Radare pilih sing S band (luwih murah timbang L band)
      2. Pesawat penggotonge pilih sing propeller mesin 2 utowo bizjet: pesawat propeller mesin 2 sekelas cn-235/c-295/saab-2000 biaya operasionale gur sakprotelone pesawat boeing-737/800, lan yen bizjet sekelas emb-145/global6000/gulfstream kurleb 65% ne biaya operasine boeing-737/800.
      3. Rung jinis pesawat lho mau iso diopetasekne seko landasan pendek...dadine luwes
