Negara-negara Barat menjanjikan lebih banyak peralatan pertahanan udara
Peralatan pertahanan udara termasuk di antara perlengkapan yang dijanjikan negara-negara Barat untuk dipasok ke Kyiv menjelang dan selama pertemuan Ukraine Defense Contact Group (UDCG) yang diadakan di markas NATO di Brussels pada 11 Oktober. Ini adalah pertemuan UDCG pertama yang dihadiri oleh Presiden Ukraina Volodymyr Zelensky, yang berbicara tentang kebutuhan negaranya akan tambahan kemampuan pertahanan udara berbasis darat, serta platform artileri dan amunisi, kata Menteri Pertahanan AS Lloyd Austin, yang memimpin pertemuan tersebut. konferensi pers sesudahnya. Austin menggambarkan pertemuan itu sebagai “instrumental dalam memastikan … bahwa Zelensky dapat melindungi kota-kotanya dan juga melindungi pasukannya”.
Dia mengatakan Jerman akan menyumbangkan sistem pertahanan udara Patriot lainnya dengan tambahan rudal Patriot dan dua sistem pertahanan udara IRIS-T lagi, Spanyol akan terus melatih personel Ukraina menggunakan Hawk dan menyumbangkan peralatan tambahan untuk sistem pertahanan udara, dan Bulgaria akan menyumbangkan komponen untuk sistem pertahanan udara S-300.
Menteri Pertahanan Inggris Grant Shapps mengumumkan bahwa Ukraina akan dilengkapi dengan sistem pertahanan udara jarak sangat pendek (VSHORAD) Terrahawk Paladin MSI-Defence Systems (MSI-DS) yang dapat menghancurkan kendaraan udara tak berawak dan melindungi infrastruktur nasional yang penting.
Sistem ini menggabungkan dudukan meriam 30 mm Mk 44 Bushmaster II 30 mm berbasis skid yang awalnya digunakan untuk aplikasi angkatan laut dengan sistem kendali tembakan elektro-optik MSI-DS Surveillance Acquisition Targeting Optical System (SATOS), dan 3D active electronically scanned array radar untuk deteksi target.
Sistem ini telah didemonstrasikan untuk melawan ancaman sistem pesawat tak berawak (UAS) Tipe 1 dan Tipe 2 dengan lima peluru semburan udara pada jarak 1,5–2 km.
