The New Zealand Army has received the last of 105 LAV-IIIs, known locally as New Zealand Light Armoured Vehicles (NZLAVs), from General Dynamics Land Systems Canada.
The army mounted a parade at Linton Military Camp on 19 November to mark the formal retirement of its M113 tracked armoured personnel carriers and the transition to the NZLAV. The 77 M113s entered New Zealand service in 1969.
