Vietnamese Sail Training Ship from Poland Almost Completed

According to Russian defense news forum, sail training ship 67 m long designed by CHOREN company (Poland), the construction almost completed on the Polish private shipyard Marine Projects Ltd in Gdansk under the supervision of Polski Holding Obronny and Polish Defense Industry, according orders of the Naval Academy in Nha Trang Vietnam.

The ship was laid down in the yard Marine Projects Ltd July 2, 2014 and launched on June 1, 2015 in the period the ship is in the stage of completion to prepare the commissioning and handover as well as training for Vietnamese crew. Time of delivery is expected in August 2015.

Ship named Le Quy Don, a Vietnamese scientist and writer, famous poet of the 18th century.

Sail training ship Le Quy Don has 67 m long, 10 m beam, sail area of ​​1,400 m2, displacement of 857 tonnes and 3 masts with a height of 40 m, draft of the ship from 3.6 to 5.75 m.

The vessel has 30 crew and up to 80 navy students, rhe ship is armed with 4 x 12.7mm machine gun WKM-Bm.

Polish maritime portal said currently 30 Vietnamese crew in training at Marine Academy in Gdynia, and will be conducted the first voyage with the ship their upcoming Le Quy Don.
