Minister of State (MOS) for Defence Desmond Choo visited Exercise Daring Warrior in Fort Sill, Oklahoma, United States (US) yesterday (Singapore time) to witness the Singapore Armed Forces’ (SAF) and the US Army’s combined live-firing exercise.

Held from 29 August to 28 September 2026, the exercise involved about 110 SAF and 50 US Army personnel, as well as the High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) operated by the Singapore Army’s 23rd Battalion, Singapore Artillery, and the Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS) operated by the US Army’s 75th Field Artillery Brigade.

During his visit, MOS Choo received a brief on the conduct of the exercise and witnessed the precision strike capabilities of the HIMARS and MLRS. He also engaged the exercise participants and thanked them for their dedication and commitment to defence. Speaking after his visit, MOS Choo expressed confidence in the SAF’s operational capabilities and highlighted the importance of overseas training opportunities for the SAF.

He said, “Exercise Daring Warrior is an extremely important exercise for the SAF. It allows us to train in realistic conditions beyond land-constrained Singapore, and allows our servicemen and servicewomen to be able to improve their professional skills by training with our US counterparts. NS60 is coming next year, and it is important for us to recognise and appreciate the work of our national servicemen and their contributions to building up competencies that have allowed us to be an effective fighting force.”

First held in 2010, this 11th edition of Exercise Daring Warrior underscores the long-standing and mutually beneficial defence relations between Singapore and the US. The SAF’s training in the US provides opportunities for professional exchanges that have strengthened cooperation and deepened understanding between personnel from both armed forces. The vast training space in the US also allows the SAF to conduct realistic training to sharpen its operational competencies and enhance operational readiness.

ZAMBOANGA CITY— The Philippine Navy (PN) and Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) are strengthening their ability to operate together at sea as they conduct Maritime Training Activity (MTA) SEAGULL 10-2026 in Western Mindanao, reinforcing a defense partnership built on interoperability, mutual trust, and a shared commitment to maritime security.

The activity formally opened on 14 September 2026, following the arrival of the Royal Brunei Navy’s KD DARUSSALAM 06 at Naval Station Romulo Espaldon on 13 September.

Running from 13 to 17 September 2026, MTA SEAGULL places personnel and vessels from both navies in realistic maritime scenarios requiring coordinated planning, communication, and action. More than a demonstration of naval capabilities, the activity strengthens the ability of both forces to work together effectively in addressing shared maritime security challenges.

This year marks the 10th iteration of the biennial bilateral activity. The previous iteration was hosted by Brunei Darussalam, continuing a long-standing cycle of combined training that has steadily strengthened professional ties and operational cooperation between the two navies.

The participation of KD DARUSSALAM 06 and BRP RAJAH SULAYMAN (PS-20) provides both navies an opportunity to undertake more complex and realistic at-sea training, translating years of bilateral engagement into practical interoperability in the maritime domain.

Significantly, MTA SEAGULL 10-2026 is being conducted while the Philippine Navy continues its operational commitments in Western Mindanao, including maritime security support for the 14 September 2026 Bangsamoro Parliamentary Election. The simultaneous conduct of these missions demonstrates the Philippine Navy’s capacity to sustain operational readiness and fulfill its maritime security responsibilities while continuing important bilateral defense engagements.

As the Philippines and Brunei Darussalam navigate an increasingly complex maritime security environment, MTA SEAGULL 10-2026 demonstrates how sustained engagement, combined training, and professional exchanges can translate longstanding friendship into effective cooperation at sea.

The activity ultimately reinforces the enduring defense relationship between the Philippines and Brunei Darussalam and affirms the shared commitment of both navies to remain capable, interoperable, and ready to contribute to peace, security, and stability in the region.

The Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) and the People’s Liberation Army (Navy) [PLA (Navy)] concluded the fifth edition of Exercise Maritime Cooperation (XMC) earlier today. Held from 5 to 9 September 2026 in Zhanjiang, China, the exercise saw the participation of the RSN’s Formidable-class frigate RSS Steadfast, and PLA Navy’s Jiangkai-II-class frigate PLANS Dali.

During the exercise, both navies had an exchange of sea riders and conducted a series of maritime security and conventional warfare drills. RNZAF Proves Ability to Support Hi-tech Partners During F-35 Exercise

13 September 2026

The Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF) and New Zealand Army have trained alongside the RAAF demonstrating agile combat employment, integrating RAAF F-35As, C-130J and RNZAF P-8A Poseidon aircraft, as well as Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC) personnel in a series of training activities at RNZAF Base Ohakea and Waiouru Military Training Area this week.

The first Exercise Agile Tasman stemmed from a joint Chief of Air Force Vision Statement signed by the RNZAF and RAAF in 2025 and the desire to put its objectives into action.

The Chief of Air Force, Air Vice-Marshal Darryn Webb, said the exercise was an opportunity to practise with Australia to project capabilities in the Pacific.

“Our responsibility to enhance the security and prosperity of our region is best done by Australia and New Zealand and many other nations working together. And to do that effectively, it simply takes practice.”

Training objectives included exercising an RAAF Forward Arming and Refuelling Point (FARP) outside Australia for the first time, delivery of high explosive ordnance into the Waiouru Military Training Area and intercept training with the RNZAF P-8A.

The Commanding Officer of No. 3 Squadron RAAF, Wing Commander Mark Biele, said it was wonderful to be in New Zealand and operating together, reinforcing the Anzac spirit, especially when the squadron was celebrating 110 years since its founding.

“It's our 110th birthday while we are here, and who would we want to spend that with other than our best mates across the Tasman?”

The main tasks of the exercises included the two F-35As flying from RAAF Base Williamstown to New Zealand, supported by a RAAF KC-30 air-to-air refueller, and then entering the Waiouru skies to execute a coordinated time-on-target strike employing two GBU-54 precision-guided bombs, which were GPS target designated into the training area under the control of JTAC’s.

After this the jets landed at Base Ohakea, where they were refuelled from the tanks of a C-130J and rearmed. The FARP demonstrated the ability to rapidly refuel and rearm aircraft, increasing operational reach, resilience and mission tempo in remote or austere environments.

On the third day of the exercise, RNZAF No. 5 Squadron and its P-8As got involved with the jets conducting intercept training. Intercept training is a practice where military fighter jets learn to find, approach, identify and escort other aircraft in flight.

A team of 67 RAAF personnel, including aircrew, maintenance, security forces and refuellers travelled to Base Ohakea, working alongside about 32 RNZAF personnel including aviation rescue firefighters, security forces personnel, refuellers and aircrews from No. 40 and No. 5 Squadrons.

Led by the RAAF, and hosted by the RNZAF, the exercise has laid a platform for future training with enhanced interchangeability of personnel and aircraft between the New Zealand and Australia.
