More attack helicopters to be purchased under 'Flight Plan 2028'
MANILA, Aug. 2 (PNA) -- More attack helicopters will be acquired to boost the Philippine Air Force's existing aircraft fleet, a PAF official said Tuesday.
"The attack helicopter project is a continuing program up until we are able to close the capability gap. It's laid out in the PAF Flight Plan 2028 and very much in line with the President's thrust," PAF Spokesperson Col. Araus Robert Musico said in a message to the PNA.
This would boost the existing MD-520 attack units and newly-acquired AW-109s, he added. At present, PAF has between 12 to 16 MD-520s and eight AW-109 attack helicopters.
Attack helicopters, in the Philippine setting, are often deployed as aerial rocket and machine batteries to help troops in clearing and pursuit operations.
Earlier, President Rodrigo Duterte pledged to acquire more attack helicopters to aid troops in their operations against bandit and lawless groups.
In its 14-year strategic roadmap called Flight Plan 2028, the PAF will be able to build up its capability to detect, identify, intercept and neutralize incursions from "Area Readiness 3 to Area Readiness 1."
"Area Readiness 3" refers to 51 to 74 percent of Philippine territory while "Area Readiness 1" means 100 percent of the country's territory which is estimated to be 40,000 square nautical miles.

Rencana TNI AU mengganti pesawat tempur F-5E/F Tiger II dengan Sukhoi Su-35 buatan Rusia semakin tampak jelas ke permukaan. Saat ini empat instruktur penerbang F-5 berpangkat mayor dari Skadron Udara 14, Madiun mulai mengikuti pendidikan terbang konversi ke pesawat Sukhoi Su-27/30 di Skadron Udara 11, Makassar.
Keberadaan F-5 sendiri di Skadron Udara 14 saat ini tidak diterbangkan walaupun belum di-grounded secara resmi. Pesawat ini sudah mengabdi di TNI AU selama 36 tahun sejak kedatangannya di Tanah Air tahun 1980.

Komandan Lanud Sultan Hasanuddin Marsma TNI Nanang Santoso saat membuka pendidikan konversi ke pesawat Sukhoi mengatakan, para penerbang F-5 dididik guna mengetahui segala sesuatu berkaitan dengan pengoperasian jet tempur Sukhoi. “Mereka dipersiapkan nantinya untuk menerbangkan Su-35 sebagai pengganti F-5 di Skadron Udara 14,” ujarnya, Selasa 26 Juli 2016, di Makassar.
Keempat penerbang F-5 yang mengikuti pendidikan konversi ke pesawat Sukhoi adalah Mayor Pnb Reza “Tigon” Muryaji (AAU 2000), Mayor Pnb M. “Bradox” Yunus (AAU 2001), Mayor Pnb I Kadek “Jaeger” Suta Arimbawa (AAU 2003), dan Mayor Pnb Apri “Cheetah” Arfianto (AAU 2004). Keempatnya masing-masing sudah mengantongi lebih 1.000 jam terbang di F-5.
Pendidikan konversi ke-16 pesawat Sukhoi akan berlangsung selama empat bulan di Skadron Udara 11 Wing 5 Lanud Sultan Hasanuddin.

Korpaskhas Siap Amankan KTT World Islamic Economi Forum
Jakarta - Prajurit Paskhas dari Satuan Bravo ’90 Paskhas dan Wing I Paskhas melaksanakan Apel Kesiapan dalam rangka Pengamanan Konferensi Tingkat Tinggi World Islamic Economi Forum (WIEF) yang bertempat di Silang Monas, Jakarta, Kamis (28/7).
Bertindak selaku Irup yaitu Pangdam Jaya Mayor Jenderal TNI Teddy Lhaksamana dimana dalam sambutannya menyampaikan agar seluruh personel Pengamanan yang terlibat harus siap dalam menjaga keamanan sehingga pelaksanaan KTT WIEF dapat berjalan lancar dan aman dari gangguan apapun.
Kegiatan Apel tersebut dilaksanakan bertujuan untuk mengecek kondisi kesiapan meliputi personel, perlengkapan dan alutsista yang akan digunakan selama pengamanan KTT World Islamic Economi Forum pada tanggal 2 sampai dengan 4 Agustus 2016 di Jakarta.
Dalam Apel Kesiapan tersebut, sebanyak 10.150 personel gabungan TNI/Polri dilibatkan untuk mengantisipasi kemungkinan terjadinya kecelakaan lalu lintas, unjuk rasa dan aksi terorisme.

Kapal Perang TNI AL Jelajahi Keberadaan Kapal Selam Musuh
Kapal Perang Republik Indonesia (KRI) TNI Angkatan Laut yaitu KRI Sultan Iskandar Muda (SIM)-367 jajaran Komando Armada RI Kawasan Timur (Koarmatim) dengan Komandan KRI Letkol Laut (P) Ashari Alamsyah, memimpin latihan peperangan Anti Kapal Selam (AKS) pada latihan Manuver Lapangan (Manlap) Latpratugas Armada Jaya (AJ) XXXIV/2016 yang berlangsung di perairan Laut Jawa. Jum’at, (30/7/2016).

Adapun unsur-unsur KRI yang mengikuti latihan peperangan AKS diantaranya adalah KRI Usman Harun-359, KRI Layang-635, KRI Ajak-653, dan KRI Pulau Rupat (PRP)-712. Dalam pelaksanaan latihan peperangan AKS ini, KRI SIM-367 memimpin pelaksanaan identifikasi Visual kapal selam musuh, yang disimulasikan oleh KRI Ajak, dengan melepas Mini Mobile Torpedo Target (MMTT) pada kedalaman 3 sampai 7 meter dibawah permukaan laut.
Latihan peperangan AKS ini bertujuan untuk melatih ketrampilan prajurit KRI dalam mengidentifikasi kapal selam musuh, selain itu juga untuk melatih ketrampilan operator sonar yang dimiliki setiap KRI dalam mendeteksi keberadaan kapal selam baik dalam pendeteksian sonar pasif maupun sonar aktif.

Ikut menyaksikan dalam peperangan AKS tersebut diantaranya, Komandan Satuan Kapal Eskorta (Dansatkor) Koarmatim Kolonel Laut (P) Ariantyo Condrowibowo selaku Papelat Pra AJ XXXIV/2016, Komandan KRI Frans Kaisiepo-368 Letkol Laut (P) Seno Ario Wibowo, S.T., dan tim penilai dari Kolatarmatim yang diketuai oleh Letkol Laut (P) Daru Cahyo Sumirat selaku Komandan Glagaspur Kolatarmatim.

Dansatkor Koarmatim Kolonel Laut (P) Ariantyo Condrowibowo selaku Pepelat Pra AJ XXXIV/2016 mengatakan, latihan peperangan AKS merupakan rangkaian latihan sebelum pelaksanaan yang digelar pada medio akhir Agustus, selain itu kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk mengecek peralatan – peralatan, sistem senjata dan sonar yang dimiliki KRI apakah masih berfungsi dengan baik atau tidak, serta melatih operator maupun personil KRI dalam mendeteksi kapal selam.

The Philippine Army, as part of its acquisition of additional 114 BAE Systems’ M-113A2 armoured personnel carriers from the United States, is in the process of fitting 76mm gun turrets to fourteen of these vehicles.

These turrets are being retrofitted from Alvis FV101 Scorpion tracked reconnaissance vehicles that have been retired from Philippine Army service. The force procured a total of 65 of these vehicles. Their turrets can deliver high explosive, smoke, anti personnel (canister) and anti-armour fires out to 2.2 kilometres (1.3 miles). Once upgraded, the M-113A2 platforms will act as fire support vehicles for the Philippine Army’s mechanised infantry. A similar configuration is employed by the Australian Army.
The enhancement of these M-113A2 vehicles represents one of the latest efforts of the Philippines to modernise its armed forces, in light of the People’s Republic of China’s increasingly muscular strategic posture in the South and East China Seas.
