Airbus dan NHIndustries (NHI) sedang bernegosiasi dengan pemerintah Australia untuk memanen suku cadang bernilai tinggi dan komponen penting dari armada helikopter NHI MRH90 Taipan milik Angkatan Pertahanan Australia (ADF) yang dinonaktifkan.
Airbus mengatakan kepada Janes bahwa suku cadang ini sedang dicari untuk pelanggan NH90 lainnya “untuk mendukung operasi penerbangan mereka”.
“Secara keseluruhan, kami sedang mencari beberapa ribu suku cadang, yang akan dibeli oleh perusahaan mitra NHI (tanpa biaya kepada pelanggan NH90) dan akan dimasukkan kembali ke sistem pendukung NH90,” tambah Airbus.
Janes melaporkan pada awal Januari bahwa pemerintah Australia telah memulai proses pembongkaran armada helikopter MRH90 yang berjumlah 46 unit. Menurut Airbus, MRH90 dan NH90 memiliki kesamaan di hampir semua sistem. “Ada beberapa item spesifik pada konfigurasi MRH90 Australia, namun sebagian besar suku cadangnya umum dan dapat digunakan oleh operator NH90 lainnya,” kata Airbus.
Tidak jelas kapan negosiasi dengan Australia akan selesai. Airbus mengatakan pihaknya tidak dapat berkomentar mengenai masalah ini. Namun, perusahaan menambahkan bahwa suku cadang yang dipanen akan dimasukkan ke dalam sistem pendukung melalui dua cara: “Operator NH90 akan mempunyai kemungkinan untuk membeli suku cadang bekas ini dari NHI dan menyimpannya di stok mereka sendiri, … dan/atau mereka juga akan memiliki kemungkinan untuk menggunakan bagian-bagian ini melalui proses Pertukaran Standar”.
