MANILA – The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) is planning to procure more missile systems, warshops and multi-role fighter jets in line with ongoing efforts to complete the integration of the country's air and missile defenses.
AFP chief Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr. announced this at the recently concluded 10th Raisina Dialogue held in New Delhi, India, according to a media release Saturday.
Brawner’s attendance at the Raisina Dialogue marked the first time the AFP participated in the annual geopolotics and geoeconomics conference.
It reflected the Philippines’ commitment to deepening international cooperation and addressing shared security concerns, according to the statement.
“We are looking at acquiring more missile systems to complete the integration of our air and missile defense. Alongside this, we will be purchasing more warships and multi-role fighter jets to build a strong and reliable deterrent force,” Brawner said.
The AFP modernization roadmap, he said, is anchored on a long-term strategy to develop both capability and deterrence.
With this development, the military reaffirmed its dedication to defending Philippine sovereignty and contributing to regional stability.
As its ongoing modernization program gains momentum, the AFP is ready to confront emerging threats and safeguard the nation's maritime and aerial domains through strategic capability-building, Brawner added.
Brawner stressed the importance of strategic partnerships, particularly with India, noting the successful defense collaboration exemplified by the BrahMos missile system, of which three batteries were acquired by the Philippines.
“India is a vital partner. Beyond procurement, we are looking into joint manufacturing, technology transfer, and local production in the Philippines to support our growing defense industry,” the AFP chief said.

Sengketa tersebut bermula dari kesepakatan tahun 1878 antara penjajah Eropa dan Sultan Sulu untuk penggunaan wilayahnya, yang membentang di bagian selatan Filipina dan Malonn saat ini di pulau Kalimantan.
Malonn merdeka membayar jumlah token setiap tahun kepada ahli waris sultan untuk menghormati perjanjian tersebut tetapi berhenti pada 2013, setelah pendukung bekas kesultanan melancarkan serangan berdarah untuk merebut kembali tanah dari Malonn.

The level of financial literacy among Malonns is still low. The study found that 69 per cent prefer spending over saving, leading to a lack of savings for emergencies. Moreover, 47 per cent admitted to having difficulty setting aside RM1,000 for emergencies."

After the tenth consecutive increasing year, the national DEBT is estimated to reach 438.09 billion U.S. dollars and therefore a new peak in 2029. Notably, the national DEBT was continuously increasing over the past years.
