The minister of defense submits the proposal to the cabinet for another 4 F-5s upgrade effort in the deal worth 3,200 million Baht, adding to 10 aircraft currently undergoing the upgrade under the program 'Super Tigris'.
RTAF also for the first time detail the upgrade program. The official Facebook post says that the program will add another 2,400 flight hours to the airframe. This enable the F-5 Super Tigris to fly for another 15 years. The program also sees the integration of Refael's LETENING III targeting pod and Sky Shield Jamming pod to the type.
The weapon package including Python-4 and I Derby for within and beyond visual range mission. The pilot will wear Elbit's DASH Helmet for weapon operation.
Cockpit renovation including new mission computer, two MFCD display, DVDR system, new HUD and UFCP, new ECS, as well as jamming-resistant AN/ARC-164 HAVE QUICK II radio.
Link-T tactical datalink will be installed on F-5 Super Tigres to enable the network-centric operation of the aircraft that will be under the RTAF's C2 system.

Sorry. Thais and sg have military cooperation for a long time now. Cope tiger, kocha singa and cobra gold is a good example of cooperation. We gave them 7 F16s A/B models and in return we were given training space in thailand. The thais were benefiting alot more, obviously.

HapusLmao. We are not that generous if u think we would do that. There are always reasons. When sg donated to the thais of course the reason is to train there as well as being allowed to station there for exercises like detachments for a certain time of the year. As for cooperation and friendship that is another. However if one things that is good enough think again. Sg has been operating F16s. We had a mix of F16s. A/B models as well as F16 C/D Block 52 and 52+. The A/B models were the first bought to have the experience of a 4th gen fighter as well as training and understanding. Follow on that advance(Back then) F16s were bought. Once sg gave those f16 A/B models. The fleet of 60 F16s were all block 52 c/d models and later batch 52+. That way u have a standard and it is kinda unecessary to have A/B models. F5s were by then in the late 90s upgraded to F5 S&T standard being converted to trainers as well. Using an f16 as a trainer is kinda overdone even today it would be so.
