BUTTERWORTH - Lapan pesawat tempur FA-18 D Hornet yang dimiliki Tentera Udara Diraja Malaysia (TUDM) diyakini mampu melaksanakan tugas sehingga 2035.
Panglima TUDM, Datuk Seri Affendi Buang berkata, kesemua pesawat berkenaan telah melalui proses naik taraf secara konsisten dan berkebolehan dalam melaksanakan misi melindungi ruang udara negara.
Katanya, sejak 20 tahun lalu, FA -18 D Hornet telah terlibat melaksanakan pelbagai misi penting yang dipertanggungjawabkan kepada NO 18 Skuadron TUDM.
“Pesawat ini akan ditarif sebagai matang, bukan pesawat usang dan mampu digunakan dalam tempoh 18 tahun lagi,” katanya ketika berucap pada majlis sambutan NO 18 Skuadron di Terminal Udara Butterworth di sini hari ini.

@Gam Bit get rid of those darn migs.They are a burden to operate at such an age. It is not worth the cost to upgrade and buy just a few years of life. Soviets intended this fighters to be replaced easily and cheaply hence when it is time to go they discard it and replace with another one.
