Kuala Lumpur (06/04) PT PAL Indonesia dan Lumut Naval Shipyard (LUNAS) Malaysia menandatangani Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) atau Nota Kesepahaman. Agenda tersebut dihelat bertepatan dengan Pembukaan acara exhibition Defense Services Asia (DSA) 2024 yang berlangsung di MITEC, Kuala Lumpur. MoU tersebut ditandatangani oleh CMO PT PAL Indonesia, Willgo Zainar, dan Datuk Dr. Shahrazat binti Haji Ahmad, Chairman Board of Directors LUNAS dengan disaksikan oleh Laksdya TNI Erwin S. Aldedharma Wakil Kepala Staf TNI Angkatan Laut dan Tan Sri Abd Rahman bin Ayob, Chief of Navy, Royal Malaysian Navy.
Kerja sama yang dibangun ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan potensi sumber daya LUNAS dan PT PAL Indonesia serta menjajaki kolaborasi masa depan dalam proyek pembuatan kapal. Kerja sama ini diharapkan dapat mendorong pertukaran pengetahuan dan kemajuan teknologi di kawasan serta memperkuat hubungan Bilateral Indonesia dan Malaysia.

Saat ini PT.PAL sedang memproduksi, Frigat Merah Putih, Kapal selam Scorpene, LPD Makasar class untuk Philipina dan LPD 163 meter pesanan UEA.

PSC-Naval Dockyard had never built anything but trawlers or police boats before being given the contract, the company was contracted to deliver six patrol boats for the Malaysian Navy in 2004 and complete the delivery in 2007. Those were supposed to be the first of 27 offshore vessels ultimately cost RM24 billion plus the right to maintain and repair all of the country’s naval craft. But only two of the barely operational patrol boats had been delivered by mid-2006.

RM 11.2 BILLION = The cost of the LCS project is now RM11.2 billion. It must be noted from that RM11.2 billion, Lunas or the former BNS used around RM1 billion to pay its debts and to upgrade the facilities for the LCS project. And not a single ship has been delivered yet.
