Panglima Tentera Darat (PTD), Jeneral Tan Sri Dato’ Muhammad Hafizuddeain bin Jantan telah menyempurnakan Penutup Eksesais Panah Jaguh (EPJ) Tahun 2024 di Lapang Sasar Bumi ke Udara (LSBU), Tanjung Logok, Johor pada hari ini.

Eks ini merupakan latihan tembakan tahunan Sistem Pertahanan Artileri Pertahanan Udara bagi menguji tahap kesiagaan pasukan Grup Artileri Pertahanan Udara (GAPU) melibatkan kerjasama antara Tentera Darat Malaysia, Tentera Laut Diraja Malaysia (TLDM) dan Tentera Udara Diraja Malaysia (TUDM).

Antara sistem persenjataan yang diuji adalah Meriam 35mm Oerlikon dan Misil Starstreak. Simulasi serangan udara ini merupakan tindakan bagi menghindar serangan udara musuh dan telah dipertontonkan dengan menggunakan pesawat kawalan jauh sebagai sasaran.

Diteruskan lagi dengan serangan ke arah pesawat musuh untuk mengganggu dan menghalang kemaraan musuh melalui bantuan Gempita 30mm dari Rejimen Pertama Kor Armor Diraja, ACV 300 ADNAN 25mm dari Batalion Ke-7 Rejimen Renjer Diraja (Mekanize), G -WAGON HMG 12.7mm dari Batalion Ke-6 Rejimen Renjer Diraja dan Tim sniper menggunakan senjata BARRET 12.7mm dari Unit Skuadron Zulu, Rejimen 21 Komando dan Kompeni Pandura (Para).

Turut hadir adalah Timbalan Panglima Tentera Darat (TPTD), Leftenan Jeneral Dato' Tengku Muhammad Fauzi bin Tengku Ibrahim, Panglima Medan Barat Tentera Darat (PMBTD), Leftenan Jeneral Dato’ Pahlawan Hj Muhammad Huzaimi bin Sabri, Panglima Medan Timur Tentera Darat (PMTTD) Leftenan Jeneral Dato' Mohd Sofi bin Md Lepi, Ketua Staf Tentera Darat (KSTD), Leftenan Jeneral Dato’ Zaidan bin Atan serta Pegawai-Pegawai Kanan TDM.

Saat ini kapal dengan nama KM Arau ini sedang dalam tahap perbaikan akhir yang dilakukan di Jepang.

Panglima Tentera Udara Jen Tan Sri Mohd Asghar Khan Goriman Khan berkata lawatan itu adalah untuk membincangkan mengenai perancangan memperoleh pesawat F/A-18D (Hornet) milik Tentera Udara Kuwait yang masih dalam keadaan baik dan mempunyai waktu jam operasi yang rendah berbanding pesawat Hornet TUDM sedia ada.

"TUDM masih menaruh harapan untuk memiliki pesawat pejuang F/A-18D Hornet walaupun tindakan terkini oleh negara itu yang terpaksa menyelenggara dan menaik taraf pesawat Hornet sedia ada disebabkan penghantaran pesawat pejuang F/A-18E/F (Super Hornet) dibeli oleh Kuwait berdepan kelewatan.

"Kuwait mempunyai 39 pesawat itu terdiri daripada dua dan satu tempat duduk sahaja. Jadi pada lawatan itu nanti pihak TUDM dan kerajaan Malaysia sendiri akan menentukan jumlah pesawat yang diperlukan," katanya pada sidang media di sini hari ini.

Malaysia to use Anka-S for Maritime Surveillance
While the specific equipment configuration of the Ankas is not currently known, they will be operated solely as a maritime surveillance platform in Malaysian service, and will not be equipped with any weaponry. According to European Security & Defence reporting from LIMA 2023, the Malaysian Ankas will have modified wings to improve their endurance.

Erol Oguz, unmanned aerial systems programme manager at Turkish Aerospace, told ESD at LIMA that the UAV type being supplied to Malaysia will be a new version of the Anka-S with modified wings. Oguz also confirmed that the Ankas will not be armed, but will carry a maritime intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) payload that includes a synthetic aperture radar and an electro-optical/infra-red sensor.

Three of the ships will be built in Turkiye under the LOA according to the release though it did not identify the shipyards to build them. Defence Minister DS Khaled Nordin was present at the LOA handing over ceremony so it is likely the ministry will issue – a less detailed press release on it. Do note that even if the LOA is issued, they could still be finalising the technical details of the ships.
