Philippine Navy Conduct Anti-Submarine Exercise as Part of SAMA-SAMA Exercise

Combined Naval Exercise

On the 7th day of the exercise, participating units conducted a combined anti-submarine exercise (CASEX), deck landing qualification, and night steaming in company. 

Philippine Navy's BRP Jose Rizal (FF150), the lead ship of her class and Anti Submarine Helicopter (AW159); Royal Canadian Navy's Halifax-class frigate HMCS Vancouver (FFG331); United States Navy's Arleigh Burke-class destroyer USS Howard (DDG-83) and Sikorsky SH-60 Seahawk (MH-60R) participated in the said serials.

Afterward, the Naval Air Wing's MUARS 71 conducted Maritime Air Surveillance (MAS) and Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance utilizing the Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) Scan Eagle.

The Philippines (AFP) and SAMASAMA Exercise allied forces are long-standing partners in force readiness and capability development.

Advancing Maritime Readiness

On the 2nd day of the Sea Phase, the Combined Anti-Submarine Exercise (CASEX) resumed alongside the Joint and combined Patrol (Night Steaming in Company). 

During this phase, participating naval forces engaged in Torpedo Exercises with Expandable Mobile Anti-Submarine Warfare Training Target Exercise (EMATTEX) and Search and Rescue Exercise (SAREX) alongside Shipboard Casualty Care drills.

The ongoing Sea Phase activities demonstrate the commitment of participating naval forces to enhancing interoperability, readiness, and collaborative capabilities in addressing maritime security challenges.
