11ID Conducts First Airborne Sustainment Training in Sulu, Strengthens Operationbal Readiness
The 11th Infantry "Alakdan" Division (11ID) marked a historic milestone with the first-ever recorded static line parachute jump in the Municipality of Talipao, Sulu, during the 1st Quarter Airborne Sustainment Training on February 16, 2025. This groundbreaking event signifies a major advancement in the division’s efforts to enhance its airborne capabilities and maintain operational readiness.
Organized by the 6th Special Forces “Lionheart” Battalion (6SFBn) under the Special Forces Regiment (Airborne), the training brought together qualified airborne personnel from 6SFBn and various units of the 11ID. The exercise reinforced the Division’s commitment to continuous capability development through specialized training.
Prior to the airborne insertion, participating troops underwent extensive pre-jump preparations at the 1101st Infantry Brigade headquarters. A Black Hawk helicopter transported the jumpers to the designated drop zone in Barangay Buntod, Talipao, where they successfully executed their jumps, demonstrating precision and discipline in airborne operations.
Maj. Gen. Leonardo I. Peña, Commander of 11ID, emphasized that this training reflects the Division’s proactive approach in strengthening military capabilities to secure Sulu and its surrounding areas. He underscored the critical role of sustained airborne proficiency in ensuring rapid deployment, force projection, and mission success in territorial defense operations.
