Direktur Utama PT Pindad, Sigit P. Santosa memperkenalkan secara resmi varian senapan serbu terbaru, SS3-M1 dalam kegiatan Press Tour DEFEND ID pada Rabu, 26 Februari 2025, di Lapangan Divisi Kendaraan Khusus PT Pindad, Bandung. Press Tour merupakan inisiatif komunikasi strategis Kementerian Pertahanan yang dipimpin oleh Kepala Biro Informasi Pertahanan Kementerian Pertahanan, Brigjen TNI Frega Ferdinand Wenas Inkiriwang untuk memperkuat corporate branding PT Pindad di seluruh platform media.
SS3-M1 (Senapan Serbu Generasi 3 – Modular versi 1) merupakan produk senjata dengan penamaan sesuai arahan Menteri Pertahanan Republik Indonesia. Penamaan senjata ini disesuaikan dengan produk senjata sebelumnya dan mengedepankan aspek familiarisasi untuk pengguna. Senjata ini merupakan pengembangan dari produk SS1 & SS2 PT Pindad dengan berbagai masukan positif dari pengguna. Dengan kaliber 5.56 x 45 mm NATO dan panjang laras 14,5 inci, senapan ini dilengkapi dengan popor teleskopik yang dapat disesuaikan.
Secara dimensi, SS3-M1 memiliki panjang total 871 mm dalam kondisi terentang penuh dan 797 mm dalam kondisi normal. Memiliki bobot 3,25 kg, senjata ini tergolong ringan sehingga memudahkkan pengguna dalam mobilisasi dan pengoperasian. Dari segi desain, SS3-M1 dilengkapi dengan sistem picatinny rail & m-lok pada hand guard untuk pemasangan aksesori dan alat optik tambahan. Selain itu, terdapat pegangan vertikal yang meningkatkan stabilitas serta kenyamanan pengguna dalam mengoperasikan senjata.
Saat ini, SS3-M1 dirancang sebagai senjata standar bagi berbagai satuan terutama untuk satuan dengan tingkat operasional tinggi. Senapan ini memiliki performa kemampuan yang setara dengan senjata basis serupa yang beredar di dunia seperti Colt M4, HK 416, dan Caracal CAR816.
“Salah satu wujud komitmen kami adalah inovasi dalam produk senjata SS3-M1. Penamaan ini merupakan arahan dari Menteri Pertahanan, sehingga pengguna dapat lebih familiar dan seragam dengan penamaan berbagai varian produk PT Pindad. Secara singkat, SS3-M1 adalah senapan serbu 5.56 x 45 mm yang merupakan pengembangan SS1 & SS2,” jelas Sigit P. Santosa.

Seperti pendahulunya, SS3-M1 masih menggunakan peluru kaliber 5.56×45 mm standar NATO.
SS3-M1 memiliki panjang laras 14,5 inci dan bobot yang cukup ringan yakni 3,25 kg, sehingga memudahkkan pengguna dalam mobilisasi dan pengoperasiannya.
Senapan dilengkapi dengan popor teleskopik yang dapat disesuaikan, dalam kondisi terentang penuh 87,1 cm dan 79,7 cm dalam kondisi normal.
Seperti halnya senapan serbu modern lainnya, SS3-M1 dilengkapi dengan sistem picatinny rail & m-lok pada hand guard untuk pemasangan aksesori dan alat optik tambahan.
Selain itu, terdapat pegangan vertikal yang meningkatkan stabilitas serta kenyamanan pengguna dalam mengoperasikan senjata.

The result of this research is that diplomatic relations between Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates have been ongoing since 1976. In 1978, Indonesia opened an embassy in Abu Dhabi. Then in 1991 the United Arab Emirates opened an embassy in Jakarta. Then the form of cooperation that exists between Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates is that PT Pindad and Caracal will work together to carry out joint production of various weapons, including the AR15-based CAR 816 assault rifle for use by special forces in Indonesia using the barrel component and other components from Pindad. Joint production of the Pindad SM3 5.56 mm machine gun for use by the UAE army and marketed in the Middle East, as well as the use of Pindad-made barrels and other weapons components for weapons made by Caracal. Thus, the two countries can strengthen state security by minimizing the budget for the main weapon system equipment by relying on private products in the context of bilateral cooperation.
