(DEFENCE SECURITY ASIA) – Selepas kejayaan membekalkan 18 buah pesawat pejuang ringan FA-50 kepada Tentera Udara Diraja Malaysia (TUDM) tahun lepas, gergasi aeroangkasa Korea Selatan, Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) kini mensasarkan untuk membekalkan helikopter kepada Angkatan Tentera Malaysia (ATM) pula.
KAI bersama rakan tempatannya mempertaruhkan helikopter utiliti pelbagai guna, KUH-1 Surion dalam usahanya untuk menembusi pasaran helikopter Malaysia khususnya bagi kegunaan angkatan tentera.
“Helikopter utiliti pelbagai guna KUH-1 Surion adalah platform yang paling sesuai untuk melengkapkan Rejimen 882 PUTD,” kata sumber itu.
Rejimen 882 PUTD bakal memperolehi empat buah helikopter Black Hawk secara sewaan untuk dioperasikannya.
Penyewaan empat buah helikopter itu dikatakan untuk tempoh selama lima tahun.

Menurut sumber itu lagi, helikopter utiliti pelbagai guna KUH-1 Surion adalah sebuah helikopter moden yang memiliki kelebihan berbanding helikopter-helikopter utiliti yang berada di pasaran pada masa ini.
“Antara kelebihan helikopter KUH-1 Surion berbanding helikopter utiliti lain di pasaran adalah, keupayaannya untuk beroperasi pada waktu siang dan malam serta kemampuan untuk beroperasi dalam semua keadaan cuaca.
“Sekaligus ianya mampu memenuhi keperluan operasi dan latihan bagi pengguna terutamanya ketiga-tiga cabang ATM,” kata beliau.

Two ships were constructed by the PT PAL Indonesia based on the Indonesian Navy's Makassar class. Construction of the first unit already started in January 2015 and was delivered in July 2016, while the second unit started a few months after and delivered by 2017 after going through sea trials. The lead ship was launched on 17 January 2016 as BRP Tarlac. The second ship was delivered on 10 May 2017 and named as BRP Davao del Sur.
