Eksesais Udara Shakti 2024 (EX US24) antara TUDM dan IAF (photos: TUDM)
Kuantan - Tentera Udara Diraja Malaysia (TUDM) buat kali kedua menjadi tuan rumah bagi Eksesais Udara Shakti 2024 (EX US24) bersama Indian Air Force (IAF). Eksesais yang bermula pada 05 Ogos hingga 09 Ogos 24 ini dilaksanakan berkonsepkan Field Training Exercise (FTX) dan Subject Matter Expert Exchange (SMEE).
Matlamat utama EX US24 ini adalah untuk memperkukuhkan hubungan dua hala pertahanan yang terjalin lebih 60 tahun melibatkan kedua-dua angkatan udara. Di samping itu, eksesais ini juga dapat meningkatkan interoperability dalam melaksanakan latihan bersama secara taktikal melalui perkongsian maklumat dan pengalaman di mana secara tidak langsungnya memberi manfaat terhadap perkembangan teknologi dan taktik dalam melaksanakan operasi penerbangan.

Majlis Pembukaan EX US24 telah berlangsung dengan ucapan dari Team Leader IAF, Gp Capt Ajay Rathi dan ucapan perasmian pembukaan oleh Pengarah Eksesais (EXDIR) Kol Abdul Rahim bin Jusoh TUDM. Simbolik kepada acara ini, Pengarah Eksesais turut menyempurnakan pemakaian "patch" kepada peserta IAF.
Majlis pada hari ini turut dihadiri oleh Deputy High Commissioner of India, Ms. Subhashini Narayanan dan Pegawai-pegawai Kanan TUDM dari Pangkalan Udara Kuantan.
Pelaksanaan EKSESAIS UDARA SHAKTI 2024 (EX US24) hari ini melibatkan pertempuran udara 7 buah pesawat Sukhoi-30 daripada Tentera Udara Diraja Malaysia (TUDM) dan Indian Air Force (IAF) di ruang udara Kuantan.
Dalam masa yang sama, pengisian aktiviti EX US24 dimanfaatkan dengan perbincangan 'Subject Matter Expert Exchange' (SMEE). Aktiviti ini bertujuan berkongsi kepakaran dan pandangan serta skil para peserta di dalam bidang penerbangan dan kejuruteraan untuk pesawat Sukhoi-30.
Pelaksanaan HOP EX (EKS US24) di mana pilot dari kedua-dua negara RMAF & IAF bertukar pesawat Su-30MKM dan Su-30MKI untuk melaksanakan pertempuran udara.
Antara matlamat utama HOP EX ini adalah untuk menguji kesiapsiagaan pesawat, berkongsi taktik dalam melaksanakan pertempuran serta perbezaan fungsi alatan pesawat.

Adapun dua perusahaan yang digandeng dalam pengadaan unmanned combat aerial vehicles (UCAVs) dari pabrikan Turki ini, adalah Baykar dengan produk Bayraktar TB2 dan Anka produksi Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI), yang siap memberikan transfer teknologi kepada PTDI.
Khusus Bayraktar TB2, merupakan pesawat tanpa awak jenis Medium Altitude Long Endurance (MALE) yang memiliki kemampuan meluncurkan rudal dan menghancurkan kendaraan lapis baja.

Menteri Pertahanan Malaysia Mohamad Sabu sontak membalikan anggapan banyak orang selama ini. Seperti dikutip dari thestar.com.my (31/7/2018), Sabu menyebutkan bahwa saat ini dari 18 unit Su-30MKM, hanya ada empat unit pesawat yang berada dalam kondisi layak terbang (serviceable).
