    At Monday’s press conference in the south-eastern city of Rzeszow, Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz addressed the report, saying that while the Law and Justice (PiS) cabinet, whose administration ended last December, in fact made several deals for military equipment purchases, they did not arrange for appropriate changes that would prepare the armed forces for its implementation. In his view, after the army received the purchased FA-50 planes, they were not ready for take-off or to be used right away.

    South Korea has delivered FA-50 combat trainer aircraft to Poland that are reportedly unsuitable for military operations, Polish Deputy Defence Minister Cezary Tomczyk said.
    Tomczyk revealed that while Poland initially pursued the acquisition of the FA-50s from South Korea with the expectation of receiving operational aircraft, it subsequently emerged that the armaments intended for these aircraft had been discontinued. As a result, the Polish Ministry of Defence has received 12 aircraft that are no longer capable of fulfilling combat roles.....

    But the new centrist government has been critical of the purchase after reviewing the contract.
    So far, Poland has received 12 of the jets in the GF (Gap Filler) version, but Blaszczak failed to secure weapons for them, Cezary Tomczyk, a deputy defence minister, told parliament on Thursday.
    According to him, the delivery of the 36 remaining jets in the PL version custom-made for Poland "is largely at risk" and delays in their deliveries may reach nine months.
    While praising the role the FA-50s are playing in the Polish Air Force, Tomczyk said that they can only be used as training aircraft.

    KUALA LUMPUR: Housing loans made up the largest chunk of household debt in Malaysia at 60.5%, it was revealed.
    The Finance Ministry stated that the aggregate national household debt stood at RM1.53 trillion between 2018 and 2023.
    In aggregate, it said the household debt for 2022 was RM1.45 trillion, followed by RM1.38 trillion (2021,) RM1.32 trillion (2020), RM1.25 trillion (2019) and RM1.19 trillion (2018).

    84.2% DEBT TO GDP
    HOUSEHOLD DEBT CRISIS
    Malaysia's household debt is rising rapidly, with the debt-to-GDP ratio at 84.2% at the end of 2023. This is due to a combination of factors, including low wage growth, high living costs, and easy access to credit. The debt is a threat to the financial well-being of Malaysians and the stability of the economy.
    ------
    7 IN 10 = RECESSION
    NEGATIVE PERCEPTION OF THE ECONOMY
    Despite a growth rate of 4.2% in the first quarter of 2024, a survey found that 7 in 10 Malaysians believe the country is in recession. Half of Malaysians say they are only getting by financially, and one third believe the cost of living crisis is worse than other countries.
    ------
    NEED FOR STRUCTURAL REFORM
    The Malaysian ringgit has been depreciating, which is due to a number of factors, including a long-term decrease in competitiveness and over-reliance on foreign direct investment. To address this, Malaysia needs to re-evaluate its dependence on foreign direct investment and implement major reforms
    ==============
    2024 RINGGIT LOSSES
    The ringgit extended its losses to end lower against the US dollar today despite weaker United States economic data, an economist said. At 6 pm, the ringgit depreciated to 4.7110/7145 versus the greenback from yesterday’s close of 4.7080/7110.
    -
    2023 RINGGIT FALLS
    The Malaysian ringgit has fallen to its lowest level since the 1997-1998 Asian financial crisis, with the currency weighed by the US dollar’s rise and a widening rate differential with the United States.
    -
    2024 DEFICIT 4.3% 2023 DEFICIT 5%
    With Budget 2024, Malaysia’s military will get some but not all of what it wants, as the government runs a tight budget focused on uplifting the socio-economic well-being of citizens while trying to ensure fiscal discipline as it aims to narrow the deficit to 4.3% of GDP by end-2024 (from 5%)
    -
    2022 DEFICIT 5,6% 2021 DEFICIT 5,6%
    Pada kesempatan yang sama, Menteri Ekonomi Malaysia Rafizi Ramli menyatakan pengeluaran negara cukup besar yang dipicu oleh pandemi untuk melindungi ekonomi memperlebar defisit menjadi 6,4 persen dari PDB pada 2021
    Kemudian pada 2022 berkurang menjadi 5,6 persen, ketika pemerintah juga meningkatkan pagu utang dari 60 persen menjadi 65 persen dari PDB
    ===================
    2024 OVER LIMIT DEBT 65,6%
    Malaysia Government debt accounted for 65.6 % of the country's Nominal GDP in Mar 2024, compared with the ratio of 64.3 % in the previous quarter. Malaysia government debt to GDP ratio data is updated quarterly, available from Dec 2010 to Mar 2024.

    2024 = 84% NO SAVING EVERY MONTH
    2024 = 84% NO SAVING EVERY MONTH
    2024 = 84% NO SAVING EVERY MONTH
    A recent survey conducted by the Financial Education Network (FEN) showed that 84 per cent of Malaysians do not have regular savings every month.
    The level of financial literacy among Malaysians is still low. The study found that 69 per cent prefer spending over saving, leading to a lack of savings for emergencies. Moreover, 47 per cent admitted to having difficulty setting aside RM1,000 for emergencies."

    3. CONTOHI PINDAD - AIR TIMES ........
      Pada Ogos tahun lalu, firma pertahanan Indonesia, PT Pindad (Persero) mencipta sejarah tersendiri apabila berjaya melaksanakan uji tembakan pada kereta kebal saiz sederhana, Harimau. Harimau dibekalkan dengan meriam Cockerill kaliber 105mm. Kereta kebal ini merupakan program kerjasama antara PT Pindad dengan firma pertahanan Turkiye, FNSS.
      Membangunkan Harimau bukan sekadar program sehari dua atau salin dan tampal, sebaliknya menggembleng tenaga kejuruteraan tempatan PT Pindad sejak lapan tahun lalu. Kereta kebal seberat 30 tan ini juga mendapat pengesahan daripada Tentara Nasional Indonesia – Angkatan Darat (TNI-AD) dan bakal memasuki inventori republik tersebut.
      Ini juga adalah secebis daripada kejayaan yang telah ditempa oleh PT Pindad sebagai firma pertahanan bagi kelengkapan persenjataan darat yang unggul di Indonesia. PT Pindad turut dikatakan bersaing untuk mendapatkan kontrak menggantikan kenderaan Radpanzer Condor Angkatan Tentera Malaysia menerusi kenderaan Anoa 6×6. Anoa 6×6 dibangunkan pada tahun 2008 berasaskan kenderaan perisai VAB buatan Perancis tetapi dengan ciri-ciri lebih baik. Kira-kira 14 tahun lalu, Anoa 6×6 juga bersaing untuk mendapatkan kontrak kenderaan perisai bagi tentera pengaman MALBATT di Lubnan yang ketika itu.
      Lain-lain aset yang dibangunkan PT Pindad ketika ini ialah kenderaan taktikal Maung, Komodo dan kenderaan tempur/bantuan tembakan Badak 6×6.
      Badak direkabentuk dan dibina secara usahasama antara PT Pindad dengan syarikat Cockerill Maintenance & Ingenierie SA Defence dari Belgium. Tahun ini, PT Pindad bakal meraikan usia penubuhannya yang ke-41. Walaupun sejarah awal kewujudan syarikat persenjataan ini bermula pada era 1950an, namun secara rasmi tarikh penubuhan PT Pindad dihitung mulai 29 April 1983 apabila ia dimilik negarakan. Pindad adalah singkatan daripada Perindustrian TNI Angkatan Darat iaitu nama yang diperkenalkan pada 1962 menggantikan Pabrik Alat Peralatan Angkatan Darat (Pabal AD) pada 1958.
      Mulai 1983, PT Pindad dijadikan syarikat negara bagi membolehkan ia melangkah lebih jauh dan bukan sekadar mengilangkan senjata untuk pihak tentera. Sepertimana kebanyakan syarikat persenjataan kecil, PT Pindad mengeluarkan senjata secara kebenaran berlesen daripada firma asal selain mengilangkan pelbagai bahan letupan dan peluru untuk tentera Indonesia. Pada tahun 1991, PT Pindad mengeluarkan raifal tempur SS1 yang dibina berasaskan senjata FN FAC buatan Belgium. Selepas 15 tahun, PT Pindad menghasilkan senjata sendiri iaitu raifal tempatan pertama SS2-V 1.
      Kini, senjata yang dihasilkan lebih moden iaitu SS2-V2 HB, SS2-V4 HB dan SS2-V4 A1.
      Sejak tahun 2006, PT Pindad telah menjual senjata ke negara luar seperti Kemboja, Laos, Nigeria dan Emiriah Arab Bersatu.
      Bukan sahaja senjata, malah PT Pindad turut mengeksport peluru kepada Korea Selatan, Singapura, Timor Leste, Laos dan Filipina dengan nilai eksport AS$5 juta setahun.
      Sejak dua tahun lalu, pengurusan PT Pindad meletakkan sasaran untuk syarikat tersebut tersenarai dalam Senarai 100 Firma Pertahanan Global Tahun 2024 dengan menawarkan penyelesaian produk yang berkualiti tinggi serta mempunyai inovasi.
      Hasrat itu dibuktikan apabila Indonesia membentuk satu entiti perniagaan dikenali sebagai Defence Industry Indonesia (DEFEND ID). Bernaung di bawah DEFEND ID ialah PT Len Industri (Persero) sebagai induk dengan anak syarikatnya termasuklah PT Pindad.
      Melihat pencapaian industri pertahanan negara jiran ini menimbulkan beribu persoalan, mengapakah perkara sama tidak berlaku di Malaysia.
      Bukan bermakna kita tiada syarikat pertahanan, tetapi untuk membandingkan pencapaian syarikat pertahanan negara kita dengan di sana begitu jauh kemampuannya.

      NEED FOR STRUCTURAL REFORM
      The Malaysian ringgit has been depreciating, which is due to a number of factors, including a long-term decrease in competitiveness and over-reliance on foreign direct investment. To address this, Malaysia needs to re-evaluate its dependence on foreign direct investment and implement major reforms.

    Pada Ogos tahun lalu, firma pertahanan Indonesia, PT Pindad (Persero) mencipta sejarah tersendiri apabila berjaya melaksanakan uji tembakan pada kereta kebal saiz sederhana, Harimau. Harimau dibekalkan dengan meriam Cockerill kaliber 105mm. Kereta kebal ini merupakan program kerjasama antara PT Pindad dengan firma pertahanan Turkiye, FNSS.
    Membangunkan Harimau bukan sekadar program sehari dua atau salin dan tampal, sebaliknya menggembleng tenaga kejuruteraan tempatan PT Pindad sejak lapan tahun lalu. Kereta kebal seberat 30 tan ini juga mendapat pengesahan daripada Tentara Nasional Indonesia – Angkatan Darat (TNI-AD) dan bakal memasuki inventori republik tersebut.
    Ini juga adalah secebis daripada kejayaan yang telah ditempa oleh PT Pindad sebagai firma pertahanan bagi kelengkapan persenjataan darat yang unggul di Indonesia. PT Pindad turut dikatakan bersaing untuk mendapatkan kontrak menggantikan kenderaan Radpanzer Condor Angkatan Tentera Malaysia menerusi kenderaan Anoa 6×6. Anoa 6×6 dibangunkan pada tahun 2008 berasaskan kenderaan perisai VAB buatan Perancis tetapi dengan ciri-ciri lebih baik. Kira-kira 14 tahun lalu, Anoa 6×6 juga bersaing untuk mendapatkan kontrak kenderaan perisai bagi tentera pengaman MALBATT di Lubnan yang ketika itu.
    Lain-lain aset yang dibangunkan PT Pindad ketika ini ialah kenderaan taktikal Maung, Komodo dan kenderaan tempur/bantuan tembakan Badak 6×6.
    Badak direkabentuk dan dibina secara usahasama antara PT Pindad dengan syarikat Cockerill Maintenance & Ingenierie SA Defence dari Belgium. Tahun ini, PT Pindad bakal meraikan usia penubuhannya yang ke-41. Walaupun sejarah awal kewujudan syarikat persenjataan ini bermula pada era 1950an, namun secara rasmi tarikh penubuhan PT Pindad dihitung mulai 29 April 1983 apabila ia dimilik negarakan. Pindad adalah singkatan daripada Perindustrian TNI Angkatan Darat iaitu nama yang diperkenalkan pada 1962 menggantikan Pabrik Alat Peralatan Angkatan Darat (Pabal AD) pada 1958.
    Mulai 1983, PT Pindad dijadikan syarikat negara bagi membolehkan ia melangkah lebih jauh dan bukan sekadar mengilangkan senjata untuk pihak tentera. Sepertimana kebanyakan syarikat persenjataan kecil, PT Pindad mengeluarkan senjata secara kebenaran berlesen daripada firma asal selain mengilangkan pelbagai bahan letupan dan peluru untuk tentera Indonesia. Pada tahun 1991, PT Pindad mengeluarkan raifal tempur SS1 yang dibina berasaskan senjata FN FAC buatan Belgium. Selepas 15 tahun, PT Pindad menghasilkan senjata sendiri iaitu raifal tempatan pertama SS2-V 1.
    Kini, senjata yang dihasilkan lebih moden iaitu SS2-V2 HB, SS2-V4 HB dan SS2-V4 A1.
    Sejak tahun 2006, PT Pindad telah menjual senjata ke negara luar seperti Kemboja, Laos, Nigeria dan Emiriah Arab Bersatu.
    Bukan sahaja senjata, malah PT Pindad turut mengeksport peluru kepada Korea Selatan, Singapura, Timor Leste, Laos dan Filipina dengan nilai eksport AS$5 juta setahun.
    Sejak dua tahun lalu, pengurusan PT Pindad meletakkan sasaran untuk syarikat tersebut tersenarai dalam Senarai 100 Firma Pertahanan Global Tahun 2024 dengan menawarkan penyelesaian produk yang berkualiti tinggi serta mempunyai inovasi.
    Hasrat itu dibuktikan apabila Indonesia membentuk satu entiti perniagaan dikenali sebagai Defence Industry Indonesia (DEFEND ID). Bernaung di bawah DEFEND ID ialah PT Len Industri (Persero) sebagai induk dengan anak syarikatnya termasuklah PT Pindad.
    Melihat pencapaian industri pertahanan negara jiran ini menimbulkan beribu persoalan, mengapakah perkara sama tidak berlaku di Malaysia.
    Bukan bermakna kita tiada syarikat pertahanan, tetapi untuk membandingkan pencapaian syarikat pertahanan negara kita dengan di sana begitu jauh kemampuannya.

    REGIONS WEAKEST.....
    the Malaysian military is today the region’s weakest. It is riddled with corruption, poor planning, and interference by political leaders in procurement, NO longer a potent force even in managing low-level intensity conflict at a time when tensions in the South China Sea are higher than they have been since the days of the Vietnam War.
    A 2019 White Paper on Defense – nearly four years ago – called for more funds and punch as well as an overhaul of the procurement system to allow professionals to decide on what weapon systems they need. Instead, PM Anwar Ibrahim’s proposal to increase the defense budget by 10 percent to fund procurement will be delayed because of budgetary considerations related to the flagging ecoNOmy, expected by the World Bank to grow at a mediocre 3.9 percent in 2023, down from an earlier estimate of 4.3 percent in April.
    The immediate impact is on the Malaysian Armed Forces’ combat readiness, which depends on state-of-the-art techNOlogy, training, and morale. Without adequate funding, all three will be affected, in turn undermining the country’s planned strategic deterrence capability
