SEOUL (Yonhap) -- Agency for Defense Development (ADD) Korea Selatan mengatakan pada hari Kamis bahwa mereka akan meluncurkan fase pengujian untuk sistem radar canggih yang sedang dikembangkan untuk dipasang pada jet tempur KF-21 dalam upaya untuk memungkinkan misi udara, darat, dan maritim.
Pengumuman tersebut dibuat ketika Agency for Defense Development (ADD) mengadakan pertemuan untuk meluncurkan fase evaluasi untuk active electronically scanned array radar (AESA), bersama dengan kementerian pertahanan, badan pengadaan senjata negara, dan badan-badan terkait lainnya.
Sistem radar baru ini dapat mendeteksi dan melacak target di darat atau laut dalam mode udara-ke-permukaan dan udara-ke-laut, dan ADD berupaya mengintegrasikannya ke dalam jet tempur KF-21 buatan dalam negeri pada Desember 2028.
Setelah pengujian selesai dan jet tempur KF-21 dilengkapi dengan sistem radar, misi serbaguna segala cuaca yang melibatkan udara, darat, dan laut akan menjadi mungkin.
Mode udara-ke-udara, yang telah melalui fase pengujian, diharapkan akan diterapkan pada jet KF-21 akhir tahun ini.
